The Battle of Thermopolaye. With a sword, spear, and shield. Fight alongside the greatest warriors of all time.

I like this answer.

I'd fight in Batoche with a Winchester of the time, some rocks and stolen gunpowder from raids. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

There is no way the Spartan's could have held thermopylae! Consider Plataea, how long did the Persians fight on even though the Greeks had managed to bring them to close quarter? After being warmed up a little, the Persians would have fought and overan the machine gun.

No doubt, just way too many men. But that they held off, only 300 of them, for 2 days. Incredible.

I would go back to the year of the Battle of Bannockburn with a nuclear bomb.

Or the American War of Independence - with a nuclear bomb.

The Battle of Hastings - I would change history by preventing the invasion by taking the Royal Navy back with me as there was no Royal Navy in 1066 to prevent the invasion. Although Britain would be much different if the Normans never invaded - the thousands of words in the English language that are derived from French, thanks to the Normans, would probably never have entered the language, meaning English today would sound more like its close relative German.

What about a shotgun and chainsaw?

Considering most early battles were fought where commanders could see their troops, a simple 81mm morter would pretty much decapitate the other side, and some white phosphorus would scatter everyone else. Not much plunder to be had though, after everybody ran away.
With the one I chose, I can't remember if Xerxes was any where near the fight, and even if he was, it would have had to lob over 20000 men. Now if we were talking a sniper rifle, then you would be closer ;)

If you could go back to one distant battle in time wielding a weapon of your choice (other than a nuclear bomb), which battle would you interrupt and with what weapon?

Either walk up to Hannibal Barca with a SCUD Missile launcher so he can break down Rome's walls, or at the Battle of Carthage and give the Carthaginians a .50 Cal Machine Gun with lotsa belts of ammo...
