I have watched that doc every time I could. To see the veterans of "Little Stalingrad" from both sides see in each other a veteran and not an enemy touches me to the bottom of what ever it is that drives me. The one German para that spoke so little english and was so worried about what the Canadian vets would think of him...damn it brings a lump to the throat to think about it now.

I dropped a couple of tears watching that......It's good to see them able to put it behind them like they did......although it was kind of tense at the start, they seemed to be quite close at the end of it. Does the heart good.

I was touched when I watched that piece. It makes me realize the amazing power of forgiveness. These men, on both sides, were fighting a battle and not each other personally. There was so much respect and kindness on both sides that really touched my heart.

In these times of immense stress and mistrust it does give us hope that, if these veterans who lived through hell can meet and forgive, there might be hope for us yet.

It's too bad that America glorifys war so much and peace so little.

The link worked great for me. Very moving. The guy that blew up the house with 24 Canadians was very brave for showing up, he was very concerned about how he would be accepted.

PJB, it's unfortunate that you see fit here to take an unsubstantiated jab at the US. Why don't you think about how many men the US lost in WWII before you open your mouth.

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum. I am researching family genealogy, and my uncle was killed at Ortona, Dec 23rd, 1943. His name was Peter Versailles, and he served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment. He is buried in the cemetary at Ortona.

I have been looking for photos of the soldiers that were in the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, but have had no luck. If anyone has any imformation, or a family member that served with this Regiment, I would really appreciate any information you may have, or web sites that I might find some photos.

I have looked at a lot of sites for the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, but no photos of the soldiers that were at Ortona. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When I listened to the video clip, I thought about my uncle, and maybe some of the veterans that went back to Ortona, knew him, or maybe served in the same Regiment.

Thank you,
Eileen
