An interesting read

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/ ... -1.4660487

It’s sad that the forgotten heroes never seem to have got the recognition they deserved at home

Léo Major was clearly one hell of a man. First for doing what he did and second for having the sense not to talk about it with the endless legion of trolls and assholes who'd call him a liar.

I heard about Léo a long time ago but I've forgotten where the information came from. :(

Incredible. I always found our history classes never talked very much about the heroics of Canadians that can instill pride in the students. It was always broad strokes.

Canadian history classes have been horrible for decades. Even when I was in high school in the 1980's they were creeping in with all the "atrocities of Western civilization/evil white people" crap. Discussion of heroes like Leo Major or any of the thousands of other members of the Canadian forces had already been pretty much purged from the classroom back then.
