Lose the battle but win the war for the Brits, the continued blockade of German ports,

the inability to import food and war materiel was a major cause of the

defeat of germany in World War 1.

I don't think they really lost that battle. Like they said in the last segment Germany managed to insult the jailer but the end result was they were still in jail. The loss of a few capitol ships was actually a good thing because it got Britain hungry again and not complacent.

Sloppy gunnery and letting safety discipline slide in order to increase rate of fire on target to make up for lack of accuracy highlighted flaws in the focus of their training. Communication on the fly was also sorely lacking and cracking the German codes from the start of the war instilled a false sense of security as communications in the field was based on hoisting flags.

The end result is the Kaisers Kreigsmarine managed to knock a few teeth out of the Lion that is the Royal Navy but it had more then enough bite to rule the waves.
