Why are is there so much crime on this reserve? almost every week there are some violent acts and it always seems the innocent are ones being hurt.

Decades of governments treating them like children has left in a dependancy trap and the desperation and powerlessness that goes with it.

I'd agree with that but Hobema is probably one of the wealthiest reserves in all of Canada. If there is an issue with poverty there one really needs to ask why.

No. The opposite, actually.
Kick their lazy asses and make them work for a living.
At least then, they won't have time to get into crime.

They tricked the white man, they knew there was oil there and now they own a big pool of it. I think we should put in a land claim on behave of our ancestors and take it back. :wink:

I’m not sure if the people have settled yet, but there’s been talks going on for a couple years now over miss managed oil royalties, the last offer I heard of from the Feds. was $350M. They were going to take that offer back to band council and decide if that was good enough.
