Chauchee - You should be more appreciative of your Canadian brothers. Indians in America were treated much more harshly. If your ancestors had lived in California, well... you wouldn't be here because almost all California indians were chased down and killed outright.
Canada under the British were outright civilized towards indians compared to the insane whites in the U.S.. Did Canada ever have anything like the slaughter of men, women and children at Wounded Knee?
When I was a kid in Washington State, I picked strawberries alongside indians who were brought down from Canada. I remember clearly young indian girls being totally drunk..... picking strawberries. Well, they seemed very happy at the time. While I worked hard on my knees, the indians partied and joked in the fields. Actually, it did provide a little entertainment.
When I used to go to the city, to the farmers market. There were the indians, sitting around, plastered... harrassing people walking by.
I spent time in Arizona... When I first drove into Winslow,,,, I had never seen anything like this... Indians were just standing alongside the road in a drunk stupor... standing, but comotose. And they would just walk into my house, helping themselves to fruit and food. They seemed harmless, but it was strange. I had an indian friend that I worked with... but he was Hopi, more dignified than Navajo.
Indians were conquered by white man's disease and alcohol.
Canada is heaven for Indians. You should be thankful that Canadians have treated indians as brothers and have worked hard to preserve your culture. From where I sit, here in the U.S., it seems that indian culture is very important to Canada.
Think of it this way - Canada protected you from the barbarians in the United States. You should be thankful, very thankful. Think about it, pray about it.
Appreciative? don't use that word! You don't know what that means. So what I hear you saying is, what the americans done was totally acceptable. Americans-Semericans you are all from the same BOAT. Rejected, homeless, Un grateful lowlifes as far as im concerned. It will never matter how you cut it Americans are just buncha European Rejects, same thing, from the same boat. Face it! And thats a fact.
