Wow!

I am in a new community. The Okanagan Indians are quite the lot of people who actually OWN their own territory. They rent lease and sell land to non status people!

Beautiful people in my new environment.

Any thoughts?

I lived in Armstrong for two years and during that time my Sister, Bro in Law and I rented land on OK lake from a Band member. GREAT guy who went out of his way to watch over the old mobile home we parked there during the winter months.

Course we returned the favor when he recruited us to help fight a brush fire on his land

My brother lived on leased lands that natives owned and moved because the natives decided to raise the rents by almost 500%. Nothing could be done, so he sold and left.

The people here in K-town are real people! There isn't the primative nature the people have in Prince George. Expensive.

Just came today to help out with collections. So far so good.

I love this land.

Encouraging to know that we are not out of the infrastructure at all. The fact that status people can raise rent on non-status is a surprise as it is.

You think 500% is bad. How about over 1000 members who get 185 while cnc get 2000 to 5000. That is about around 500% influx ya think?

I live in PG, having just moved from the Okanagan. The difference isn't with the people of Kelowna or Prince George, it's with the Indians bands. The natives in the Okanagan seem to have their heads set on right, they actually do something to better their lives. Up here, not so much.

Yeah, the Okanagan Indians are quite the nation....powerful nation! I could see why the Canadian government are trying to buy out our leaders up north. With all the world moving in and all of Canada growing in population? The indians who hang in there and DON'T sign a treaty will be set for life! Like the Okanagan Indians.

You will see some nations thrive and restore their commerce. You will see others fall through the gaps of DiA and end up.....just another Canadian......

With all the rights I have as an indian? I paid tax most my life and am paying off a student loan.

So just remember that all of us aren't chugs....some of us are actually tribe.

Funny to see people look at me like I am a rich Okanagan indian....when I am a foreigner to these parts.

I love you all.....even you pail of skids! Especially the one on the far...was it left or right? Bet she is married to a guy who does well....which is cool.

Amazing how my surroundings proves well on me.
