The NDN was locked up in the reserves for approximately 450 years, along with the inventions, singers. Until those talents died out. I don't see NDN millionaires around. I see Blacks, chinese and others as millionaires. But no not NDNs. One song will make a Black a millionaire. NDN's were not allowed even to bring out any inventions at all. They were told stay " in the reserve."

BC...For as long as I have read back there were no fences, walls or gates around reserves. Natives have been free to leave any damn time they wanted but they never did want to because they got used to being paid for merely existing.

Just an other little aside...You don't see Native millionaires because those that are smart enough would not associate with loosers like yourself who continue to demand something for nothing. You also have no 'NDN' (that has to be the most degrading name I have seen in a while) inventions because there were none. ooops bullshit...What about the canoe? what about the snowshoe? what about the art of drying meats? ie pemmican?

You claim to care but you obviously don't.

Demand something for nothing? Listen let me tell you something, you EUROPEAN REJECT. How can the mainstream society SEE inventions when they were contained in the reserve. Even the canoe and the pemmican, snowshoe weren't allowed onto the mainstream, ok? You dumb homeless, Reject.

Wow, let's all just chill out for a second here. Shit. Guys are goin crazy!

Anyways. So there are a wide variety of factors that go into a lack of Indian success in the modern world. I think the largest is not reserve specific, and has to do with the culture difference. Consider that even Indians extraordinarily rich before Europaean arrival are not successful today (ie, the Mexica, the Maya, the Inka, Bolivia,...). Our people are more adapted to a distinct kind of society. Part of that society is that if you don't work, or hunt and fish, you die. That doesn't happen in modern days. There are social programs that allow people with addictions to manipulate the programs and still survive. It should also be considered that Natives are typically less "greedy"-- in that we don't need an exceptionally high standard of living to maintain a high quality of living. Once again, flaws in social services allow the more energy efficient (lazy) of our people to take advantage of this.

We also have difficulties learning, that's not to say that we're less capable of learning, but that we prefer a much different learning style. When we can understand and experience what we learn, it becomes much easier to remember. An example is how I can understand high school physics, and thus do well in the class, but since certain mathematical principles are completely abstract or utterly useless in anything other than quantum mecanics, I have a greater degree of difficulty in that class despite that physics itself is dominated by math.

I don't call it lazy, more like idle, NDN"S were programmed to be idle. Slow at learning? Hmmm I beg to differ. Different kind oflearning I would agree with that, too. My uncle was an carpenter, ANd it required lotsa math calculations. And he done them. He was a journetman. I guessThe NDNnations what they really need in money management, They can buy what they need, onmly and save the rest to invest later. They don't really know what that is. Saving to invest.

Different at learning...Now there is an implied insult.

Some posters on these threads tend to think that the natives of this country are sub-standard and destined to fail.

I am not one of those, I think that every person in this country should have the same opportunity to make whatever they want to make of themselves.

I myself I'm learning this motto, 'just because I have money doesn't mean I have to spend it.' NAtives make lotsa money. Get lotsa settlements, be it insurance, of course residential schools, Oil and Gas royaltys. I hear lotta storys, of the money management. Buying a 1/2 ton truck load of cases of beer, Lmao. Sheesh. Of course it's there money. None of my business, but come on. lol. One bought a house for his parents, they lived in the city all there lifes. This one man won 2 million dollars in the lottery. He went to West edmonton mall stayed at the Hotel in there for a MONTH. LAst time I heard he had only 100,000 left that was about 2 years ago. Probably broke already, lol. He should be broke. Just spenders, the businesses love us, lol. Lotsa Whites don't like going to USA casinos, they know they can go to the high class casinos now, in the Native lands. In Canada. Money is easy to get, actually, but keeping it, investing it, is totally a different thing.
