Compare a CLAC contract to a UA contract and you will see that CLAC settles for less on average $10-$15 an hour less.

Most clac outfits are paying the same as union. I personally would recommend union over clac as well but I think now that the dam has been broken in respects to who does what kind of jobs I think you'll see clac getting a fair amount of work if not more down the road.

I'm a little upset with how some clac outfits have been operating in regards to their safety and training lately though (some outfits not all). When I hear about some 21 year old girl getting sucked through the a frame of a 94 because some smuck decided to break her out on one of the biggest booms in the industry in the mountains it makes me sick to my stomach. The unions seem to be more on top of this issue. That being said the unions haven't seemed to have changed when it comes to the nepotism thing. You can be #2 on the list and still to this day be passed over for someone's third cousin..

Right now as we speak Ledcor who is CLAC associated.... has union IW (720) on site at night time doing every trade in the book. We have hung over 200 feet of pipe this week alone. And not just 2 inch... big 24, 36 steam generation pipe. It is pretty fun grasping the fact that Shell (Royal Dutch) would hire underskilled tradesmen to build thier multi billion dollar upgrades and then get bailed out by professional tradesmen that take pride in thier work minute by minute. Not paycheck by paycheck. Not saying clac organized groups are under skilled but that they may have an inadequate hiring pool. The job I am working on has at least four union J P/F's on day shift working out of thier union contract's. Why? These men should be exposed, should they not. (Durocher) to name one [B-o]
