Hi,my name is Rick and I stumble upon the forum purely by accident.I think there was a higher force guiding me here because  ........

I've been toying with the idea of moving out to the Toronto area (although not specifically the city) and was wondering what the situation is for health clubs.I have been managing a gym in the UK for the past 4 1/2 years and really need to change in a big way. I also teach Spinning,Boxercise and circuit classes also.I will be PT certified by June too.

Are there more independents or are they part of chains? Would I be better going to Toronto or would there be enough busoness in the smaller towns along the lake side?

It goes without saying that I'll be checking the web for potential employment and the embassy for work permits etc. but there is nothing like the opinions of the people who are there. So any help, direction & advice anyone gives me will be gratefully received, thanks.

If you are lucky enough to find an employer who will get the paperwork done, you are set and done. That one is the hard part however :?

Good luck (I can't help you with more, I live in BC ;-))

that whole area is loaded with gyms , alot in city of toronto itself as well as many in the cities near it. i don't think you'd have much trouble finding places to apply at there .

are a few chains , independents and gyms run out of colleges/universities . but myself know nothing about work permits or that end of it .

It's pretty easy to find employment at a gym if you are qualififed as a PT so as soon as you get that I suggest you then start applying because PT's are constantally needed in gym's to watch people work out and teach people who want to work out so in this case getting your PT is your main advatage over people like yourself use to be.
