Six members of the organizing committee for the Garrison Ball have penned an open letter suggesting that Mayor Ford was never asked to leave the event.

The letter was released Tuesday night following the publication of the story.

The story quoted several unnamed organizers and guests as well as Coun. Paul Ainslie, who said he asked the mayor’s chief of staff to encourage Ford to leave the event.

“As a civilian member of the volunteer organizing committee of the 2013 Toronto Garrison Ball, I can confirm that I did not ask Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto, to leave the event on February 23 for any reason,” the letter states. “To my knowledge, no member of the event’s organizing committee, including Councillor Paul Ainslie, directed the Mayor to leave the event that night.”

Would you quit muddying the water with the truth. It doesn't fit some peoples agendas. :D

Nope. Not how journalism works. You get anonymous sources to point you in the right direction, then you get back-up. Sources can and should be protected where they're in danger or even just unwilling to be named, but then you need other proof. Particularily in a case like this where a public figure is possibly being attacked by people have something to gain by making him look bad. You have to look for possible motivations and ask yourself why people wouldn't be willing to put their names on these allegations.

That doesn't matter to the likes of the Toronto Star, Beaver or Lemmy. As long as it looks bad on Ford with dozens of anonymous sources, it has instant credibility.

Coming from the guy that continually supports a paper and numerous accusations that lack credibility, that's rich.

10 people say they saw something. 10 others say they didn't see anything. Is it more likely that 10 people are lying or that it happened and the other 10 just didn't see it? Believe what you want to believe. Keep giving your guy a pass because he's your guy. If a Liberal or NDP-type behaved as Rob Ford has over the past two years, you'd be crying for his head on a platter.

10 anonymous people say they saw something, 10 people who put their names on the story claimed the story was false.

I give the guy a pass because 10 people with names and faces deny the story.

Unlike you, I don't base the performance of my politicians based on their personal life and attacks from media vendettas; so your assumption that I would cry for heads on a platter is simply false.

No, they didn't say the story is false. They said they didn't see anything. That's two different things altogether. "He's not drunk" is different from "I didn't notice that he was drunk."

They said he wasn't asked to be removed from the event when the rest of the faceless people said he was.

That's the point of the story. It's not whether he was drinking or not, it was that he was so drunk that he was asked to leave the event.

The people that have actually put their names to the story with the exception of 1, said that story is false.

No, they haven't said the story is false. Are you thick? They've said they didn't hear anyone ask him to leave. They've said they weren't present or privy to any discussion about Ford being asked to leave. Maybe they were on the other side of the room from where that conversation took place. Maybe they were in the toilet. It was suggested that Ford leave. Many people suggested it. Others didn't hear it. You can't disprove a negative.

Really? Perhaps you should ask yourself that question.

I'll quote specifically for you.

The claim in the Star article was:

Quote:
Three members of the Garrison Ball organizing committee said Ford was asked to leave because he appeared impaired. One said, “he seemed either drunk, high or had a medical condition.”

The response for the organizers of the event:

Quote:
As a civilian member of the volunteer organizing committee of the 2013 Toronto Garrison Ball, I can confirm that I did not ask Rob Ford, Mayor of Toronto, to leave the event on February 23,2013 for any reason. To my knowledge, no member of the event’s organizing committee, including Councillor Paul Ainslie, directed the Mayor to leave the event that night.

Yeah  :

"I did not ask Ford to leave". That doesn't mean someone else didn't.

"To my knowledge". That doesn't mean it didn't happen. Others clearly do have that knowledge.

"No one on the organizing committee directed the Mayor to leave". Maybe: a) people not on the organizing committee directed the mayor to leave or; b) people (committee members or other) suggested he leave without actually directing him to leave or; c) it was suggested by people, in various conversations about the room, without ever making that suggestion directly to Mr. Ford or the organizing committee.

So all the people with names and faces are lying and everyone else is truthful?

Maybe others asked him to leave, maybe they suggested it...but the Star article didn't make those claims.

They specifically said that 3 people from the organizing committee asked him to leave which the committee itself has said is false.

No, goddamnit, how thick are you? No one is lying. Those saying that they have no knowledge of Ford being asked to leave are not lying. Those who say the organizing committee never asked Ford to leave are not lying. Those who say they suggested to others that Ford ought to leave are not lying. Those who say Ford appeared intoxicated are not lying. Those who say they didn't notice Ford being intoxicated are not lying.

I've gone around this with you plenty of times. You aren't getting it. Here's that ball again. Try bouncing 'er for a while and see if you finally get it.

Yes, everyone is completely truthful on the events. Just a giant he-said/she-said with everyone being honest.

It's attack by innuendo, and if you point that out you are attacked. The left's desperation is showing. It's getting comical.
