Hi, To all the Torontonian ( GTA ) get ready for a garbages strike . Its pretty sad when Management are already telling us we will be on strike . Yep I am a city garbage worker and proud of it . Though I hate to say it but it look like the city of Toronto ( Management )is forcing us city workers to go on strike . They want to take away things in are benifits that we had which have been in there for many years. Also the biggest reason for a strike is so that the city can save money while we are on strike . They don't care for the citizens of Toronto , Only what they can save and put into their pockets . I been with the city now for 20 years. If you want to see corruption and I mean real corruption ? Come and work for the city . I bet you will be surprise as to how corrupt the system really is . Canada and the great USA are the next Sodom and Gomorrah . God in christ we trust, I hope you will come soon to save us and when you do come bring some gas with you .

Image garbage collecting a highly skilled profession. In Calgary the most overpaid and under worked.

The city of Calgary has vacancies in every department except garbage collections  wonder why

I know many civil servants and that's an exaggeration. Also, it's not simply confined to the government bureaucracy - try the private sector and tell me how it goes.

To all the mouth pieces that have NO CLUE, why don't you come and apply for this job . It's available to anyone who like it and they will probably accept you to .
Then maybe afterwards you will learn what it's really like , rather then shooting your mouth off to something you clearly have NO CLUE . Come I dare you to apply , though I doubt that you will. You probably make up excuses about this or that reason . Keep up with the unlearning skills you have . One day soon you will all learn the real truth . bye bye now . Oh yeah !

HAPPY CANADAD DAY!

no clue  ..lift can empty can..place where you found it...lift can empty can..place where you found it....lift can empty can...place where you found it. In Calgary the garbagemen have problems with the second half of the job. You find your cans at the end of the alley.

The non-union rate for that kind of job in Toronto is about 12 or 13 bucks an hour, I wonder what freddy gets paid.

It's a shitty job and they need to pay people enough to stay and keep at it. It's a vital service, something the folks from Toronto should have realized with all their past strikes.

How much do you think they get paid?

I'd say in the $35/hour region.
It's not that the work is worth that value, but what the market will bear.
If you wanted to reduce the wages, you wouldn't get employees to stick around.

I'm willing for them to get that much just so we don't have to do it. I remember a garbage strike before and it wasn't pretty. I hope it's not a case of the union being greedy again though. Like alot of unions. Holding a city hostage because of greed isn't a good thing. I think unions take a bashing when that occurs even though they try to blame the city. And vice versa.
