The Fog Horn

Listen you hear it.....the fog horn it does sound
Through the mist it searches, for some familiar ground
Calling...wailing...for some unseen there boat
To safely guide it through the fog, a special private note

The house it sits an watches, safely calling home
Out to those ships passing, fer fear that they may roam
The stillness....the loneliness....the horn it does cry
Then out of nowhere a sound.... finally replies

I hear the call.... it cries to homeland far away
The mournful cry doth call me... the light...a hope...a ray
My heart its restless, an yearning, indeed I dare not roam
One day I will return, as the fog horn calls me home

Nice poem Blue42! I assume you created it.

I think the foghorn was invented by a Canadian, I am not too sure though. Anyways, it was invented by a mistake like many other things. It all started when a man was outside of his house one night as he heard his daughter playing the piano. It was surprising to him that the piano's sound could reach him through his house and to his ears. He then realized that it was the lower/heavier notes that were able to reach him and not the higher ones. Later on he brought up the invention of the foghorn partly created by the inspiration of her daughters piano playing.

Anyways, welcome to the forum!
