Whats taking them so long to comment? the media always has the mike stuck in their faces....not a peep from either of them. We know Mason needs the money because his pay check took a hit when he lost official party status. Taft will soon be out on his ass so he needs all the money he can get his hands on.

I'll ask again, how did they vote on the bill that gave them this raise?

I'll ask again as well, they won't tell us. In reality I'm sure they voted no, however with a majority government they knew the answer would be yes allowing them to point the blame at someone else. All politicians would vote themselves a raise no matter which party they belonged to.

Well in point of fact, they didn't vote at all. They didn't abstain either like Dion would - there was no vote. This raise was decided behind closed doors by the government. The blame lies nowhere but with the PCs.

Spin it however you want - the fact remains that the PCs just gave themselves a big fat raise, behind closed doors, for doing a job only 20% of the population thinks is a good one, and which, since the election, seems mostly to do with PR for the oil sands.

Hey Hurley? I'm sure you didn't just pull that 20% figure out of your ass. But I must of missed that in the media, can you direct me to the poll tyvm.

Oh yeah you can spin it anyway you want also, but it all boils down to Ed getting a raise of $12000 ( that works out to a $1000 a month ) more than Mason. Ed is driving the locomotive which is Alberta and Brian is sitting on a card table chair in the back of the train, this all seems appropriate in my books. It don’t matter if it was decided behind closed doors or at an MacDonald’s where Ed was buying happy meals for his cabinet. If Brian doesn’t want to keep his raise, he should give it to Ducks Unlimited, just because you still seem to be worrying about the ducks.
And one more point on ducks. Now that the farmers are practicing limited cultivation techniques, ducks more so than ever are building nests in the stubble in fields, now add in to that a snow storm, a couple weeks of rainy weather and these nests are full of eggs by the time the farmer comes along with his air seeder and destroys the nest and eggs. I'm just using my experience so i can't give you any official figure on that. But believe me, what happened in the tailings ponds is nothing compared to the carnage the goes on in the farmers fields daily. :( It really is amazing just how long the hen we stay on the nest. I’ve seen some wait so long that they fly up through the cultivar shanks at the last minute.

Gladly. It was the big poll done on March 3. 501,028 votes / 2,252,104 eligible voters = 22.2%. So sue me, I was 2.2% low before.

The Liberals did this same thing in BC. Gave themselves a nice juicy 29% pay raise. The NDP didn't fight it very hard either.

Yeah why are people turning this into a PC, Lib, NDP thing? Its a politician thing...

You can spin that any way you like, but the fact remains that 4/5 seats were decided by 1/5 voters. That's a piss poor state for democracy in this province.

As usual you missed the part where the Liberals gave themselves a similar raise. Figures.

You know the old saying Hurley, a farmer has to make hay while the sun's shining. Well here’s a chance for the opposition to make hay while the storm clouds are still brewing. Time to give their raises to a charity and put Ed between a rock and a hard place. If they do, then I’ll be writing my MLA to complain. But I’m going to wait and see, some how I don't think I’ll be writing that letter.

And damn he just keeps on funding our pet projects around here, maybe I should think this out more.
