Maybe because the kid is a stupid moron? I like my personal space, and seeing a classmate's dick does not make me even remotely pleased, I'd either teach him a lesson or get the school. If a pervert started flashing a highschool, I'm sure you'd want criminal charges pressed. Just because his public hairs aren't fully grown doesn't make me more sympathetic.
If these were young children he were flashing, no I wouldn't find it amusing. I agree with Bluenose though. The reactions here give me pause to wonder why.
Yeah but if it was a small kid doing it to other small kids, I bet you mommy or daddy will smack them or yell at them to NEVER do it again. If you're a teenager who should have learned that lesson, and you do it anyway, you deserve to show that if this happened on a public street, I would of done the same thing...or in a store, or in a bus, or at my house. You make a dumb decision, you pull something like this, its sexual harassment, among other things.
Criminal charges make perfect sense, the kid is aware to know he's being a dumbass, like a kid who makes a false bomb threat. You did it, you get punished. You disrupted a classroom environment, you disrupted other students, etc etc.
He got suspended and failed two classes? Good, it shows there are consequences to swinging your dick around at school.
I have no idea why any sane person would have sympathy for this douche. If somebody flashed you in public, in front of you, you'd pull out mace, or a fist, or a foot.

Smack them no I would never hit a child. Yell at them...again no. I would calmly explain to them it isn't nice to display their private body parts in public. Look the guy made a dumb ass decision in the name of humor. It is nothing more than that. There is no sexual harassment in this. Damn Kai you sound like a feminist on a bender. If some guy flashed me no I wouldn't mace, kick, punch him. I'd laugh at him and tell him to get a grip on reality. Life is to damn short to get so upset over something so insignificant. I'm really glad you weren't on the beach the day I lost my bikini top body surfing

His actual punishment - being kicked out for disrupting the class - is reasonable. You've failed to do anything beyond rant about how his being a "dumbass" makes him a criminal.

I didn't say I had any sympathy for him - he got what he deserved. I'm taking issue with your reaction.

I'd just ignore it like a reasonable person - again, why are you reacting with such hostility when you can simply ignore him? Your personal insecurity with a body part doesn't make the guy a criminal.

I think public exposure makes him a criminal.

Not in the sense that it was sexual assault, or whatever else people think he should be charged with beyond those he already faces.

He exposed himself to a public environment, a school no less. That is a crime. I'm sure a few crimes can fit into this. You don't ignore something this disgusting at a school. Thank God you're not a teacher. A school is supposed to be a secure environment, and his lack of discipline, of common sense, of morality, of decency, etc etc, is beyond belief. So yes, if I was a parent, I'd be raising hell at the school, if I was the kid's parent, I'd be smacking the hell out of him, and if I was in that classroom, I'd kick him for disturbing a classroom environment with something so fucking retarded.
Sexual harassment fits well to me, indecent exposure, and Disorderly Conduct all seem reasonable for the kid to get charged.

Yeah, we get it - you're riled all to hell over a dick. That still doesn't make it sexual assault, or give you grounds to violently attack people posing no threat to anyone.
Your reacting in this ridiculous manner - kicking him, smacking him, whatever - would in no way whatsoever serve any purpose but to disturb the classroom environment even more, so you're only being a hypocrite and exposing your own "lack of discipline". Your macho internet talk doesn't impress anyone, so cut it out and try to have a rational discussion.

All of those at the same time for one offense? Are you even interested in what those actual charges are for?

I'm no legal expert, but I don't even think a pedophile that exposes himself to children get's charged with anything but indecent exposure.

I looked it up, and in Washington, exposing yourself to a child (under 14) is a gross misdemeanor, while otherwise it's just a misdemeanor. The second time, or if you're a sex offender, it's a felony.

This both is and is not an overreaction.
It's not an overreaction because schools should be a place free of sexual activity. A misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct is appropriate.
It is an overreaction, though, in two ways. One, it's a dick. There's a 50% chance you've got one too, so lighten up. Two, this is symptomatic of America's tolerance for violence and intolerance of sex. How many bullies get expelled for the remainder of the year and charged with disorderly conduct / assault? Almost none. Violence in school should be as abhorrent as sex in school, but clearly it isn't. Witness commanderkai's reaction. If may kid and commanderkai were both in this classroom, I'd want them BOTH expelled and charged, as two wrongs don't make a right.

Expulsion may very well jepordize this boys future and that is simply unacceptable for such an act. Suspension? Sure. Loads of detention? Sure? Hell the best thing might be to embarass him by having him make a public apology in the auditorium to the entire school. Humbles the hell out of him and sends the message that if you do this you will be treated as such.
Seriously, how many kids would absolutely fear being signalled out like that and forced into such a public speaking role?

Who says he poses a threat to nobody? Might as well legalize any sort of public exposure. Who cares if a high school kid walks around with his dick out, its just a dick. Nobody was harmed with a bomb threat or a threat either. Hell harassment goes with the same thing, nobody gets harmed, its just some words. Come on.
Yeah, if I was in the situation, I'd probably beat the hell out of him. I'm sorry I'm honest. I could say well blah blah blah this and blah blah blah that. But that'd be my first reaction. "Hey look at that, So and So dick is out, time to show him some consequences." Oops, I should just pretend its not there, be all politically correct and respect his space.
Its not macho talk, its just what my gut reaction would be if I was in that situation in that class. I'm sure even when he gets back, I'm sure he'll be in a few fights by somebody. Its called high school. It might be wrong, hypocritical, etc etc etc, but that's what my gut reaction would tell me to do. You can think like whoever you are at whatever age you're at, but that means you're FAR from putting yourself in that situation, which completely negates the point of a rational discussion. Anything can be said in hindsight or being outside looking in, but if you honestly would ignore it, if some guy, right now, just freaking pulled his dick out. Good for you. You're a great person. Give yourself a pat on the back.

So your answer would be public humiliation rather than expulsion? So rather than affect his academic future let's possibly scar him mentally.

I hardly think that someone who walks into a classroom and teases the robins will be mentally scarred from making an apology.

A public apology in a full auditorium for exposing your junk? Maybe it's just me that would find that mortifying.
