In honesty, the original report has him quoted as:

"The war is stupid. "

Never the less, this fellow is a bit player and IMHO, it's not hard to see that the son got his guts and morals from his mom and not his dad.

Thats over the top Ridenrain, the man lost his son. He might not be as stoic as the mother, but he has a right to vent.

That's fair and just because it's something that I also believed.
It's with regrets and some reservations that I said that. I wanted to say that a week ago and now that I read that it's a family with a military history, I stand by that comment.
War is stupid and good people die for no reason but we recognise the reasons why they put their lives at risk and we respect their judgement.

I took your word for it and didn't go back and look through the article......won't happen again. That was cheap........even for you.

Cheap? :?

Anyhow, this is the part you should have read:

Quote:
The grieving father said he supported his son and the Canadian military, but not Canada's mission in Afghanistan.

"The war is stupid. Maybe it's necessary at times, but there's all sorts of things to consider.

"I ask the members of Parliament 'Is it worth the sacrifice of their children' " asked the father, adding that his ultimate question is "Why are we there?"

You're a son of a bitch, riden. Do some more reading before you mouth off such hatred. Hillier defends David Snyder's right to say what he feels. David Snyder was a former reservist himself, so he's harly your typical anti-war type. He's not even your typical disaffected former military man:

Quote:
Close friends said the retiree was not antiwar or antimilitary, but he had deep reservations about Afghanistan."

Quote:
Mr. Snyder is committed to public service: He is a former cadet who serves as the Legion's cadet liaison as well as on the group's executive, and is at work on a book that will chronicle Penticton veterans' war experience.

Friends said Mr. Snyder inspired similar levels of commitment in both of his sons.

So not only are you a heartless son of a bitch, riden, you're a WRONG heartless son of a bitch.

The man has the right to his opinion, you have you'res and I get mine too.
I'll take back the guts and morals part but I still believe he's wrong.

Actually I should have called it lame. What YOU should have read was the mother's opinion and presented both. You're sooooo transparent and disingenuous.

No, YOU should have done that and without crying about what Streaker did. All he did was post the article and represent its title faithfully. The article's title was genuinely represented unlike some people here who twist titles around and play word games.

Everytime we have grieving parents the same people attack those parents if they don't support the war and alternately hold up the comments of those that do as if they somehow justify the war entirely.

The middle ground are the people who recognize that the grieving families have a right to speak their mind.

Whats transparent and disengenous are the comments (admirably retracted though) from the aformentioned group or the ad hominem attacks against the poster simply because you disagree with his politics.

Streaker posted an article that supports his political views and is no different then when I do it or any of us do it. I see the same pro-war people posting the same pro-war stuff time and again and its exactly the same.

If it were any different then this site would be nothing but entire threads of an article posted followed by 30 "yep I agree".

This isn't church.

I posted the article - both parents' views were contained therein.

Not my fault you're too lazy to read it.
