Clearly we need a Homeland Security department. Also, we should invade someone.

They are worried about the idiot who made the bombs? He/She has my full permission and blessing to blow themselves to hell.

No doubt. I don't care what happens to anyone stupid enough to build pipebombs. so long as they don't also blow up their little family, I couldn't care what happens to such mental giants.

Yeah, I know. I have a hard time not telling bomb jokes in the airport line-up.

Perhaps you could provide me with a list of designated "non-humorous subjects" so I'll know for the future. I imagine, in your case, that list would be quite long.

Terrorism? Oh puh-leez!
Some asshole editor decides to grab some attention by calling pipe bombs IED's and the ______ among us start cowering in their La-z-boys!
Spend money on security! Please take away our rights so we'll be safe!

Pipe bombs are a tradition in Canada - as old as pipes and railways tracks.
The police aren't calling it terrorism so why are you?
Feeling left out? Bummed that your hatred of muslims isn't being properly recognized?

What? A tradition? Do you celebrate pipe bomb day?

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

Ruez, you should take my use of the word tradition a little less seriously.

I grew up in BC and it seems to me that half a dozen pipe bombs were found every year. It's something that some knuckleheads like to experiment with... like drugs... or Metallica

Anyway, here's a little tidbit from the news with nary a word about terrorism:

Quote:
SIMSBURY, Conn. - Authorities in Connecticut are wondering who stuffed a raw roasting chicken with a pipe bomb and left it on a roadside.
Simsbury police Capt. Matthew Catania says a motorist noticed the chicken Friday morning. He says the bomb was large enough to harm a person if it went off.
The road was closed while the Hartford Police Department's bomb squad came and blew up the chicken.

Nobody was injured.

Quote:
The discovery of a six-inch pipe bomb disrupted commuter traffic around the busy Metrotown mall in Burnaby, B.C., Thursday night.

Quote:
A bomb scare closed one of Port Alberni’s main roads Thursday evening from about 6 p.m.
Police were notified that an object had been found outside of the Echo Toyota car dealership on Tenth Avenue that may or may not have been a pipe bomb.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Lee Omilusik said the object is a metal pipe, about six inches long, with a cap on either end.
“We’re erring on the side of caution, ” said Omilusik
Good plan!
Quote:
A Surrey man will likely have his hand amputated after a pipe bomb he was making exploded.

He shoulda followed the RCMP's advice

and so it goes...

Pipe bombs are IED's so the media is using an accurate term.

No, pipe bombs are pipe bombs.
Calling them IED's is bullshit headline grabbing!
And it's completely irresponsible journalism to try and evoke terrorism.

Let the idiot who is making them blow himself up - that'll be more efficient than the legal system.

IED is a military term that many people never even heard of until the "war on terror" hit the headlines.
The media should not have used the Term for the reasons you mention above

The biggest problem with common sense is, it's not so common!
