And by and large Canadians could not care less.

Just look at this place, 12 or 13 comments in this thread. 66 comments in a thread about a court ruling in a different country that has no effect on Canadians.

Yep if this was in the states, the HRC would be on the front page for months.

and on another note:

Maclean's responds to recent decision from the Canadian Human Rights Commission
TORONTO, June 26 /CNW/ - Maclean's magazine is pleased that the Canadian
Human Rights Commission has dismissed the complaint brought against it by the
Canadian Islamic Congress. The decision is in keeping with our long-standing
position that the article in question, "The Future Belongs to Islam," an
excerpt from Mark Steyn's best-selling book America Alone, was a worthy piece
of commentary on important geopolitical issues, entirely within the bounds of
normal journalistic practice.
Though gratified by the decision, Maclean's continues to assert that no
human rights commission, whether at the federal or provincial level, has the
mandate or the expertise to monitor, inquire into, or assess the editorial
decisions of the nation's media. And we continue to have grave concerns about
a system of complaint and adjudication that allows a media outlet to be
pursued in multiple jurisdictions on the same complaint, brought by the same
complainants, subjecting it to costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars, to
say nothing of the inconvenience. We enthusiastically support those
parliamentarians who are calling for legislative review of the commissions
with regard to speech issues.

About Maclean's:

Maclean's is Canada's only national weekly current affairs magazine.
Maclean's enlightens, engages and entertains 2.8 million readers with strong
investigative reporting and exclusive stories from leading journalists in the
fields of international affairs, social issues, national politics, business
and culture. Visit www.macleans.ca.

You got that right, sad to see really. People are more concerned over what the U.S. does yet again , even though it has little impact us. While ignoring Orwellian horse shit that's happening in our own country and destroying it.

If people really care about people should be writing their MP's about it, I wrote mine. He never responded to me, but Proulx is a liberal so.... sorry couldn't let that slide. so I wrote to Harper and the Minister of Justice, they got back to me in a week...

Dear Mr. ****

On behalf of the Right Honourable Stephen Harper, I would like to thank you for your recent e-mail.

Please be assured that your comments have been noted and that they will receive due consideration from the Minister, who has already received a copy of your correspondence.

Heres what I forwarded to the PMO's office on behalf of my lazy MP ...

Quote:
Dear Sir,

I am a constituent of yours. I live in Hull, Quebec. My reason for emailing today is to express my dismay over the revelations of wrongdoing and corruption by Human Rights Commissions both at the provincial and federal levels that Canadians have been witness to these past few months.

I am disgusted and angered by what I have seen. This fiasco runs contrary to my values and spits in the face of all freedom loving Canadians. We've seen dishonest and flagrantly illegal behavior on the part of Human Rights Commissions and their employees. That Richard Warman continues to be allowed to make Section 13 his own personal plaything destroys any notion of our country having a working justice system. Indeed, the Commissions are, on the whole, Owellian.

Please be advised this is the ONLY issue I'm voting on come the next election. My vote goes to the candidate/party that is doing the most to shut down these HRC boondoggles, or at the very least, repeal Section 13 of the human rights act.

Sincerely, *******
Hull, Quebec

These politician will do something about it if they get enough emails from people believe me so feel free to cut and paste it and send it to your mp.

You can find out who your mp is here... http://www2.parl.gc.ca/Parlinfo/Compila ... x?Menu=HOC

Dont forget to cc the minister of Justice as well Nicholson.R@parl.gc.ca

Yeah they value freedom of speech more than we do. Fucked up huh, infact there was more coverage from the American press than Canadian when this started, they are finally starting to cover it. But the Americans were right on it from Day 1.
