I don't think the NP is anyone's lapdog...the CBC most certainly is.
...and besides, no one's tax dollars fund the National Post...but
all of us are forced to support the grossly partisan wasteland
known as the CBC.

"Liberal MP Ken Boshcoff admitted that Green Shift was not an environmental proposal, but rather "the most aggressive anti-poverty program in 40 years," designed to "transfer wealth from the oil patch to the rest of the country." "

Thank you, Mr. Boschoff, for your straight forward words. And might I add, "Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on.".

The Liberals know, they don't have to win the West to form Government. But that day will come. One day the Liberals will again be in majority, and then they will have to opportunity to dip into the public purse with another adscam, and lift the glorious party from poverty.

Ahh, I long for the good old days, when they called it the National Energy Program.

You know as so as the soccer mom’s with the SUV’s from Southern Ontario started complaining about this tax being added to the price of gas at the pumps, Dion quickly stuck his tail between his legs and backed off on that idea. I say to Mr. Dion, prove to us people out West that this nothing more than a plan to divide the country ( buying votes, same thing ) and put the tax back on pumps.

Some here might say be careful to what you wish for, but I think it’s a safe bet he’d never do it.

Well until he’s elected anyways, after that all bets are off. :D

I wonder if Derby would like to give us his opinion in this thread instead of being a partisan crybaby and doing it through rep points?

This isn't a debate because all the facts are in and it's already proven.

Martha Hall Findlay is also pretty clear that they have no idea if this will affect consumption but their very clear that it will raise some $16 Billion a year.. until the economy stalls.

Derby showing up in this thread would initiate the CKA version of "whack a mole".

I don't mind the taxes too much, but then I don't drive much. So I'd end up saving on income tax. Same as with Campbell's carbon tax. As an occassional driver, I'm sick of subsidizing drivers anyways, from air polltuion, to traffic enforcement, to briedge building, to road maintenance. About time drivers shouldered teh burder, if you ask me. The best thing to do would be to privatize the roads and privitize the insurance.

Well something has to be done but with a country so vast as ours how do you get people out of their cars when it is the only way to get to work? Most mass transit is not as developed as it could be and it certainly could be be more competitive. Imagine a 1st class private run transit system where you would pay a premium for transit that is not overcrowded, air-conditioned, set up for wi-fi on the fly and has tv/movie setup like westjet? Right now that's all we can do because no one has bothered cram into the loser cruiser with the drunks slobs and unemployed junkies bub. Add to that there are huge areas where mass transit is non-existent at all so going with this green shift that really has target number one as the transport industry and you have places like northern BC isolated and overtaxed. There needs to be a serious change in the way the economy runs to be sure as we simply can not keep making more roads for more cars for more suburbs when the cost of energy is already sky high and hoping the market will fix it is asking for a collapse. As the saying goes you fail to plan you plan to fail. The green shift is an attempt albeit anemic, anyone hear any better options out there by any serious political contenders? The silence is deafing.

Silence is GOLDEN, Duct tape is SILVER...cheaper and more efficient.

You are half right (appropriate for a half-wit). If you substituted "We'll have all the" with "we are all as dumb as a bag of" then you would be correct.

Don't worry, you'll get there noob. Baby Steps.

Now the real reason so many of these anti-Liberal bitch threads are devoid of any Liberals is because none of them are threads with even a hint of political debate. All the people on these threads want is to be able to shout insults at any Liberal without even a pretense of debating the issue.

Sadly CKA is almost devoid of any meaningful political debate as almost always the usual half-wits spam the thread with moronic comments like "we'll all gang up and whack whoever dares hold a different opinion.

Thats why so many of these anti-Liberal threads consist of cons crying about the Libs for a few posts, jerking each other off for a few more posts then finally crying about the lack of Liberals before the thread dies and they repeat the pattern again.
