The housing market will crumble in Alberta if something is not done to bring down the cost of Gas.

Alberta's economy depends on it.

The single family houses may have dropped into the shitter, but all those trades people building them haven't missed a days work. Now their working downtown on the 1000's of condo's being built. That story you posted last week Tritium about it only being down 10% was right, when you are looking at the big picture and not just the single family dwellings.

If the cost of gas comes down, everyone here is fucked. We need high prices to make oil sands production profitable. If the price falls, then how will Syncrude pay people $80,000 a year to drive a truck?

When eastern Canada and the US fall deep into recession, who's going to buy our oil? There's no pipeline to the coast, so we can't sell it to Asia or Europe. So we'll be stuck with a glut and prices will fall. That's when all those tradespeople making $60 an hour will lose their jobs. Then how will they pay for their big screen TVs and giant pick-ups?

Everyone here seems to think the boom will last forever. It's funny, but only 20 years ago we had bumper stickers begging for another boom with a promise not to piss it away, yet here we are, spending every cent that comes in, and not saving anything.

So what is your point, you don't have wheels. You don't have much of a lawn either. The trailer park my friend lives at in Indianapolis, Indiana has a bigger yard than you as well as a 3 bedroom unit double wide.

He owns his and only pays $250 for the lot per month.

Whats the matter do you want to contribute to urban sprawl, I thought you Liberals all hated that idea.

Mine is covered in brick and stucco (none of that cheap vinyl crap)and was built 15 years ago, there is at least 15 feet between the houses.

My 40 year mortgage is going great thank you. Last year, I was able to write off 50% of the interest I paid, as well as paying my condo down by more than $10,000 extra dollars last year (far more than I would have had I gotten a 25 year mortgage). I hope to buy another one next year if the prices keep falling.

The house I've got my eyes on is on Ada Boulevard here in Edmonton, with a stunning view of the river valley, was built about 40 years ago, but extensively remodelled in the mid-90s. Its owned by a friend's parents who are both UofA profs and plan on retiring in 2012...

He'll tell you all about it when he's not out raking leaves (wait, no trees in that neighborhood - that costs extra!), cleaning pools, cutting grass or painting fences.
