FORT CHIPEWYAN, Alta. — Information about a mutated fish caught downstream from Alberta’s oilsands region will be sent to a joint government-industry group that monitors the health of rivers and lakes.

The 2.5-kilogram goldeye caught last week in Lake Athabasca has two mouths, one beneath the other.

Two boys pointed the deformed fish out to Stuart Macmillan, Parks Canada’s manager of resource conservation at Wood Buffalo National Park, who studied it before handing it over to the Mikesew First Nation.
...
Aboriginal communities downstream of the oilsands have expressed concerns about how industrial development is affecting the animals that they eat and their drinking water. Elders believe pollution is responsible for high cancer rates and other health problems in the region.

A close up of the mouth would have been better.

Photoshop kinda makes one second guess anything less than a close-up with an exif file.

If every fish had two mouths they would be a lot easier to catch!

I saw a two headed calf in a museum once, just last week some guy stuffed a wookie costume with some pig guts into a cooler and got his 15 mins. of fame.

From the photo, it looks as if the center of the mouth was pushed through, torn and healed over leaving it looking as it does. I've caught fish without tails and jaws almost completely gone.

Mutant animals are neat. Here's a few more.

Two-headed Turtle

Two-headed cow and snake

Coolest of all - a 2 headed girl

I can't speak for the other three, but the two-headed girl doesn't live near the tar sands. I think there might be an exxon station at a 7-11 nearby though.

My dad grew up near the Savannah River Site, aka the Bomb Plant, where most of the weapon grade nuclear material for the US was made. He swears that he saw a 3-eyed frog in a creek that flows out of the Bomb Plant. Ironically, that creek is now part of the government's property at the site. Hmmm...

I don't doubt that for a second!
The US government will do *anything* to maintain it's lead in three-eyed frogs!
