is the 72' series between can-ussr on dvd or vhs?.....I'd love to see that..hell might even have a few upper canada's over it....

you can get it on dvd and vhs. All the games but I wonder if you can in the states maybe in cities with nhl teams.
Every Canadian knows where they were that day. I was on the road between Cassiar Bc and Watson lake in the yukon. I never saw the final game till about, beleive it or 1997 when Prime tv showed all the games in its intireity(sp).
maybe you could try Blockbusters.

Laconfir I enjoy your posts you are one bright teen. ok so you agree with Mukluk fine. I find it hard to watch an american film filmed in canada and have them say it is Lake Placid etc. I am not ,Maybe I sounded like it dissing the yank team Brooks did a hell of a job with those players. But I wont watch it. from what I heard the film was filmed in a town down from Trail bc that is no where near nor looks like lake placid.
I do not understand this sentence I quote'' the american victory over the ussr in 72''
were you trying to say if they changed the team from canada too the usa beqating the ussr then you would be pissed hell yeah hollywood takes things out of context . Did you ever see a movie with Alan Ladd in it called Saskatchewan they had the rockies in Sask for gods sake. the biggest hill in sask is a gopher mound.
Mike was right if I had diabetes I would nt see it . Its 1:12 in the Am maybe I will make more sence in the morning hell i never make sense. But like I said I wont watch an american film filemd in canada and having people believe it was the states . Superman Kansas nope southern AB overlooking the cemetary where they buried clarks dad you see a alberta wheat pool elevator UGG and pioneer and cars with alberta plates. give me a break

What I mean't by the "American victory over the USSR in '72" making it alright to boycott this movie, would be because, once again, Hollywood has changed the truth... Why? To make a quick buck.... They're going to show Americans, doing great things, even if it was, perhaps the French? You think anyone in the US would go to a movie about a French war hero?? Hell no... I just don't see why we have to boycott this movie since it is true, and since we don't have our own... You want your own? Do some research, right a script, and know the right people.... If anyone makes a movie about our victory it will be Canadians...

This is a great discussion: I allready made a thread about the 1972 Summit Series but no one seemed interested in posting. I find it interesting that when you mix in the American movie it gets alot more replies. Now one thing thats important I find is that while I've lived through neither the Summit Series nor the Miracle on Ice I can see that they're are tearing apaert the myth of Miracle on Ice. They're prostituting the myth and turning it into a blind peice of propaganda. By boycotting it I hope that we can insure Disney WONT pick up the Summit Series and if a movie is to be made (which I myself aspire to do anything I can to make happen once I get out of highschool and university) it should be made IN CANADA BY CANADIANS FOR CANADIANS. It should not only embody the myth by the facts and not be the ROCKY of hockey movies (not that I have anything against Rocky.)

koopstra I cant agree more with you ,you are right you said what I was trying to say I Qoute'' They are prostituting the myth and turning it into a blind peice of propaganda''
Yeah I can just see Disney picking up the summit series lot of phony plays and no hockey to speak of may get the original crew from the mighty ducks movies. Hmm wonder who will play Espo, Henderson , Clark and company .
The thing is Canada really doesnt go in for that kind of thing. While we wqave our flag as proudly as any nation we just dont brag obout our acheivements. We just go on silently about our business knowing we are the best and really dont have to prove we are the best. while other countries always try to one up the other.

In all honesty, I think the movie will tank, or make no more than 60 million. Hockey just isnt that big and I dont think the US audience will find much interest in the film.

BTW, I swore people were saying it was a made for television movie.

Let them make as many hockey movies as they want. Good or bad, hockey movies are good for the game. And let them make them here, my old man was on the set for the whole thing, and it was all Canadian kids on that movie and they made off really well, and they had a blast. A dream come true for those kids, to make a shit load of money playing the game they love without making it to the pros. I dont think anyone one could say no to that, if the offered it to you. I will see it, because my Dads name will be on the credits, and thats fucken cool. :D

I am glad for you and your dad Koopstra I think it is great him being part of that film. However If it were me and they asked me to be in it. In all honesty I could not wear their colors. I would wear ours but I do not think they will have much of Canada in it.
As for JC I do hope they do give credit where credit is due and hope it will not be in a disparaging way. I wonder if Kurts boy is in it isnt he goalie for one of the BC juniour teams.

I hope all you guys are cheering for our World Junior Boys btw. tommorow is the final against the States. If the Americans win Miracle is going to have a boost in sales I'll tell you that much (no that I'm trying to be overtly bitter :P but i've gotta link it to the forum topic right).

congrats to goaler's(?i'm not sure i have it right now that i've typed it) dad for being in a movie and the kids who are in it for being in it. I'm still not going to see it and everyone i've talked to about it it seems they arent gonna see it anyway.

(i liked slapshot actually and youngblood had some crazy/violent hockey in it)

Great. Disney puts out another pro-american hockey movie. You might have seen it the first time. It was called the Mighty Ducks.

The original Slapshot was funny.

You're all a bunch of babies :!:

I laughed my ass off reading some of these posts.. First if they want to make a movie about thier victory.. let them. You dont want to watch it? Dont then.. Unless you have seen it and its a real stinker, you could tell folks it stunk and not to waste thier money seeing it, also Lake PLacid is in the Adirondack Nountains, of which I am VERY familiar with, TRAIL BC is also in the mountains, and could ina pinch be Lake Placid.. Ive been through both towns BTW... I enjoyed this thread, cause no one was trying to threaten any one overr a silly movie for a change

RH I really hate to nit pick but I gotta how can you say Trail is like Lake Placid? Jeez. We play in Trail every may at silver city days in the parking lot beside the Cominco Arena. I gotta tell ya its a hell of a lot hotter than Lake Placid. We have set up rides when the temp is in triple digits and that is before noon.
Rossland is better suited for that and that is where some of it was filmed. I saw the first movie about miracle on ice with Karl Malden as Herb Brooks I did enjoy that show. Personaly I just cant see Kurt Russel as Herb Brooks. So anyways sorry bout the nit picking
