Where do you Canadians get your mortgage? At a bank, or a mortgage broker? And why?

Another view on Jacks new crusade:
Quote: So Jack Layton wants to ban ATM fees to save bank users $5 - $10 per month? Of course, the hypocricy is just too delicious. In one breath, Mr. Layton will tell you that $100 per month for child care is mere peanuts. In the next, he runs to the CBC to decry ATM convenience fees.
What are you trying to give me with $10 per month, Jack? I can’t even go to a movie theater for that kind of change, let alone buy an overpriced soda there. I suppose I could rent a movie, but it would take me at least 4 months of no ATM fees to save up the money for the cheapest DVD player on the market.
This is a fine example of capitalism, but of course the socialist swine squeals in disgust. If you don’t want to pay for the convenience of being able to instantly withdraw money virtually anywhere on the planet, then do like we did in the old days - visit a bank teller.
Something of interest is you can take all of Layton’s arguments against reducing the GST and apply it to this. “It won’t help the poor as much as the rich” etc. etc. I mean, how many homeless people have you seen withdraw money at ATMs?
Let’s do the math using Taliban Jack’s own numbers for the lefties frothing at the mouth as they read this. The population of Canada is just under 33 million. When you divide the $420 million among each individual Canadian, it comes out to $12.72 per year. Let’s say only half of Canadians have debit cards. Under Layton’s plan, 16.5 million Canadians would save an annual amount of $25.45.
Once again we see the NDP at it’s finest - an initiative that sounds good, but when you really think about it, it will amount to hardly anything for anybody. Of course, the mainstream media will be more than happy to indulge Layton and give him all the time he wants on air to talk about this suggestion. A step to the right (blog)

There are banks, trust companies and brokers. The sad part is the banks were deregulated by Mulroney and they proceeded to buy out the trust companies. So you are left with really shitty rates at most mortgage brokers if you are forced to go there or really shitty service from the major lenders.

Doesn't seem like much, but it's still an unnecessary charge that one ends up paying. Banks have plenty of ways to make money, they don't need to make money everytime you want to use Your money as well.

Or you could just marry a bank employee and use their staff account like we do! No fees to use it !!!

The alternate headline would be,
Banks call for end to NDP!

Here is where I really have to laugh. You see, between my investments in Mutuals, real estate holdings, and my business earnings, the bank kises my ass when I walk in. This just proves that the more you have, the more people want to give you stuff. My monthly fees are waved because I once told them I was leaving to CIBC. After that, they got a whole new attitude.
As for Jack-off Laytons idea of not charging people. Well, all I can say is that you have the choice to not use that bank machine. You have the choice to simply horde your cash in the mattress. No one forces you to use a bank. There are several ways of cashing cheques without using a bank. The sooner you folks come to grips with the capitalism theory, the less whinning we Conservatives have to hear from you lazy socialists.
I get the feeling that people like CageRattler (AKA Always4ziggy) and Avro wold have done well under the Soviet system. You could have been lazy all day long and still got paid to do sweet fuck all....Oh ya, the NDP/Liberal Utopia.

Well, at least the NDP are not proposing really stupid things like nationalizing the banks, so I guess this is a step forward.

The biggest threat to Canada is the NDP. They are a disease that needs to be wiped out.
