The little thumbs up is only available to you mods right now until the rest of us gain points - which you have to give us. So far y'all have been rather stingy.

Yes the rep system is technicaly active, but I need to brief the mods on it.

It will start off slow, but over time will snowball. I think thats better than just open range.

Well... there is room for improvement.
If you could easely access and see which post you or others were given a rep. point for, It would cirtenly be more interesting than the mere post-rating system.

Originally one of the features of the post rating system was the ability to look at all the rated posts a person has received and given - that feature never really worked, though.

the post rating system does work, and there is a bit of overlap. The post rating is more to elevate topics, to give them the blue stars, to make them stand out.

And with the rep points, you can see which post it was give for, "Post reference" (see attached scrrenshot).
Also with the Rep system its possible for mods to give rep that is not assosiated with a post.

I have thought about scraping the "post rating" thing, and finding a replacement to just rate the topic. Because thats the desired effect. It also would be nice to make the "topic rating" things not have to reload the page to submit, like the "news voting" works.

I mean specifically that "Posts rated by this user" doesn't work - it only shows one rating, which I'm guessing is the first rating by that user.

I'm just thinking that if the rep is going to be associated with a specific post, it might as well be built into the existing rating system - just have each positive rating count towards the poster's profile.

Well Trev your rep system has been running for nearly four months now. I just went through the reasons given for the awarding of a "rep", to the few people who have them. While some have been given for truly notable posts others are given for no other reason than the moderator agreed with the post or just had the ability to award it.I think it is time to either seriously modify the system or scrap it entirely.
