I know there are some people here that live in Saskatchewan, and some that have. I'm just curious to know what you think about Saskatchewan. Is it a good place to live, is there lot's of outdoor things to do. I am currently exploring all options as I am having trouble finding work in PG. One of the things that draws my attention to Sask. is the cheap real estate. You can honestly find houses in certain parts for less than 5k. That same house in BC or Alberta would go for 150-200k! I'm sort of an outdoorsy' kind of guy, I like fishing and hunting, from what I can tell Northern Sask. looks a lot like BC without the mountains. Any way if anyone with more experience has an opinion I'd be glad to hear it.

I'm just going to say something alot of people here probably would like to throttle me for saying.
I found Saskatchewan boring,
But yes, other then nothing happening (I'm a city kid, I need stuff around me HAPPENING) It is a very lovely place.
I'd probably live there if Ontario or BC didn't work out....
I'm also the type of guy who really likes mountains and doesn't like being fooled into thinking that Saskatchewan has a mountain, when it's actually just a hill.

I imagine it would be for someone your age, but it's not a concern for me as I am not looking for excitement.

I like mountains, but I think I like forests more, as long as there is some woods around I would be ok, and some lakes for fishing.

I got quite a few relatives in southern Saskatchewan,Most are from Estevan and work in either the boundary power plant or the coal mines that feed it.
No mountains but lots of rolling hills, excellent fishing and excellent hunting.
Or you learn how to bowl or curl. My cousins and uncles are all bow hunters there. Estevans right near the Manitoba and North Dakota border. A few weeks ago an oilcompany was looking for all kinds of guys/gals for pipeline work based out of there, think it was on the HRDC site.
Never been to the north part of the province though,I hear the huntings pretty good up there also.

It's really flat ...did I mention it's really flat ...flaaaaahahahahat
But really I live in the south western part which gets cooking hot in the summer, 30C for over 2 months everyday this last summer . Fishing and Camping and boating etc can be done in Cypress Hills lotsa forest and the highest elevation between the Rockies and Labrador . Believe it or not thats in Saskatchewan , but other than that did I mention that its reeeeeeally flat . This is Big sky country where you can see the Stars 180 degrees at night . I like it here and Alberta and the Rockies are close if you live in the western part of the province . I wouldn't trade it for Albertas $298000 minimum homes when you can buy them here for one tenth of that and still not lose paying gas to travel . I work in Alberta . One last thing ...Saskatchewan is very flat other than Cypress Hills but has alot of forest in the North .

Well despite your over use of the flat description, I appreciate your input. Thanks to you too Ziggy.

well the only provinces ive lived in is sask and man..well at this point yes...you can get a very decent place to live for almost nothing..i dont consider sask to be a nice place in the way of sights, entertainment to live but a very good place in the sense of quality of life(restaurants, medical care and the cost of living cant be beat)..its very unsophisticated..we're the only province where you cant have strippers in bars and nighclubs..but here is some food for thought..at present sask has the highest business tax in canada which makes it a very unattractive prospect for the oil companies..but a provincial election is just around the corner and the ndp are pretty well a done deal..so if oil exploration is unrestricted keep in mind that the fort macmurray oil sands are only 50 miles from the sask border..so who knows? there could be great potential...but all in all its an excellent place to raise a family

I'm 35 so I'm not looking for bright lights and excitement, quality of living is exactly what I'm after. I've also heard that Saskatchewan does indeed have their own oilsands. As in BC the NDP has a habit of getting in the way of business. Once we kicked them out of government in BC both mining and forestry legislations were revamped for a positive change.

Saskatchewan is great. Lots of work, especially if you can work on the highways etc. Cheap to live. Lots to do to.
Those who are hung up on it being flat should get off the Trans Canada and have a look around. If you like hunting and fishing, head north. If you make friends with somebody who owns a float plane, you can get a fly-in fishing trip by splitting the gas.

I live in Saskatchewan and I hate it! It is the most backasswards province in Canada. We are taxed to death by the province and receive nothing out of it. Our highways are a joke and the rest of the infrastructure is falling apart. Our crown corporations nickle and dime us to death so the government of the day can cook the books to make it look like they have balanced the budget. Winters are long and summers are short. We have no daylight savings time because this province is full of dumbass farmers who cannot set a clock.
We have more cattle than people!
Saskatchewan is nothing more than that stretch of SHITTY highway between Manitoba and Alberta!
