She was working in the HR dept. at ACG Glass , a modern and brand new plant in St-Augustin-de-desmaures, a suburb of Quebec city. 250 lost jobs. Reason : competition from Asia.

Earlier this week, "Crocs", the shoe maker announced that they would shut down the plant within the next 16 weeks. 500 lost jobs, mostly immigrants. Reason : production transferred to China.

Newspapers are full of job offers ; a total of 20k jobs will be available in the next 2 years ... And 750 people lose their jobs in the same week !!

My wife will get a 6 month salary pay leave and then what ?? Switch from HR to IT !
Seems like the only option available !! Unless you work for the Government ; Insignificant jobs, great pension plans or you're an IT specialist ...

Maybe my wife can learn Mandarin, become a tourist guide for chinese visitors who will visit the countries they conquered !!

2008 is Quebec city 400th anniversary ... but there's something fishy : the "manège militaire" burning down, 750 jobs lost in one single week !! something is going wrong here !!

No chinese tonight , we ordered a pizza !! very sad day I must say !
