With regards to my dear friend Eureka, he's garnered my attention so frequently because he makes himself quite the target with his knobbery. He first came to my attention when the jerkwad was arguing with Zipperfish as if Zip was a climate change denier and if he'd stopped and actually read Zip's posts he'd have seen otherwise.

And then there's the assertion that he enlisted in the British Army around 1950. That puts his year of birth no later than 1934. So he's supposedly around 77 years old. Yet he does not write like a Brit (colour much?), he most certainly does not write or use the language of a British veteran of that vintage (and I know more than my share having lived in Victoria), he refuses to mention what regiment he was in and that's on par with a redneck not telling you what state he's from (meaning it's utterly unheard of), and then there's his recurring habit of dismissing factual arguments out of hand (even from people who support his POV) and the net is that he tweaks me.

#1 he tweaks me for posing as a veteran of the British Army when he's given no actual evidence whatsoever that he's actually a veteran. That kind of thing just pisses me off.

#2 he tweaks me for picking silly fights with people on this board who have my respect and that includes people I do not always agree with.

#3 he reminds me too much of Constaninople and I'm wondering if this is the same person. The modus operandi is the same and the phony persona just seems...forced.

What you don't recognize, Brock is that he does it by playing the little puppy. You don't recognize that speaking for myself, anyway, I get at least as much hostility from your crowd as I put out. In our recent argument about the EU, you had already agreed with Shep on his snide comment to me before I ever made a reply to you. You tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, but get your panties in a knot when I do the same to you and say I'm arrogant. Not really. You have some good stuff to say andy but it's pointless debating with you on certain other matters. The UK-EU thing is something that is very much a niche subject matter and you lack the expertise in that area for me to hold a meaningful debate with, therefore I won't bother.

You've already said that sometimes you come on here to vent and frankly I'm not really into that. Mr C handles his forum time in a manner that I find more in fitting with how I like to spend my debating time.

I don't think you have any special expertise on the EU. My opinions are formed by what I read in the paper from people who do have some expertise. With the EU, nobody knows what the upshot will be of Cameron's decision - opinions vary widely, even among the "experts". So to say I don't know what I'm talking about is just crap - I'm giving my opinion same as you. And, as often happens you misread my opinion anyway. I'm not a defender of the EU - sounds like a terrible mistake. But, if you're going to be a part of it, you all need to at least row in the same direction, or you'll just make things worse.

But look how you've taken on the mantle of being the 'expert' with this topic. You're not. Having lived there doesn't make you expert either, because there are lots of people still living there who disagree with you.

And that's my point - you castigate me for the very thing you say I do.

As for coming here to vent - I said I came here just to do that, but quickly learned that this forum won't really play that game and is better than that. I still like to express myself in strong language, but so do my opponents, so there's a lot of pot kettle thing going on here.

But no, I don't really hold on to my grudges long - somebody says something I can agree with, I will say so. I don't take this place all that seriously, it's just an internet forum after all.
