HIV does not = AIDS

And gay does not mean HIV.

Does the military test? I think they should. Pregnant women, immigrants, they all get tested. Why not military personnel, especially when sent abroad?
How many gay men are there in the military anyway? 1 in 40? (wild guess) So 1 in 4 of those 1 in 40 of MEN in the military MIGHT have HIV...

They do test. The testing is also quite exstensive for those who join, I was tested once in basic, again before I went on tour, and every time I took a trip to the US.

Do they test for TB? Or Hepetitus?

Nope. The Democrats got health testing banned as "discriminatory" back in 1986 as part of immigration 'reform'.

Consequently, diseases which had been wiped out or all but wiped out in the USA have been reintroduced by infected immigrants.

California, right now, is epidemic with whooping cough due to Southeast Asian and Latin American immigrants who were infected with it when they came here. We also have tuberculosis back in California after having it almost wiped out from around 1955 to 1998. The TB is coming in with the upsurge in immigrants from mainland China where the disease is rampant. What makes it worse is the Chinese immigrants have no qualms about spitting their goo in public, on public transportation, and etc. and that spreads the disease even further.

Congressional Brilliance at its worst.

20%--Wow. I never would have thought it was that high. It's a disease that is easily avoidable. I guess maybe it's not perceived as the Anally Injected Death Sentence it used to be, so people have let their guard down.

Interesting you know for a fact that the US military tests for HIV? When did this start? I know as late as 91 they did not.

Brenda when I went in they did not test for TB, HIV, Hep or anything. With the job I did they offered the Hep C vacine but never tested us to see if we had it. You could request it if you became exposed to posible contamination. When we deployed to other countries and on our return we were never tested for anything just given gemoglobin(sp?) shots when we went to the tropics.

In the jail system they do test for TB but not for Hep or Hiv/Aids, when a inmate is screened upon their in processing. But that info might be outdated now. I've not kept current sense I quit the jail system

I'm pretty sure theres only 2 realistic ways for a guy to catch aids, being sodomized by an infected male and by sharing a fresh, moist and warm needle.

Stopping bleeding by pushing your bare hands against a wound isn't a good way. You have skin, most cuts and scraps you've accumulated during the day are equipped with handy scabs and if you do have an open wound the blood will coagulate instantly if the bleeder isn't a valid donor for you.

My nagging fear of catching Hep-C from washing dishes is more reasonable. Soapy watter is murder on scabs, there's always stuff to cut your hands on and Hep-C survives outside of the human body and uses saliva as a vector.

And repealing "don't ask don't tell" isn't about letting gays into the military. They're already in the military. They just want to admit they're in the military.

I never said they did, I was talking about the CF. I do doubt however that the US would make it a requirement for me to be tested, while they themselves opted out.

There's only a shot for Hep A&B, not C.

As for TB, I have an amusing story about that. I've mentioned before that I've worked in RCMP holding cells in northern Manitoba. TB, as well as many other diseases, is endemic in these populations. When a prisoner was lodged, they were given a mat and a tarp(blanket). My first night working there, I was shown everything and warned to handle everything and everyone with gloves, and to watch out for spitters who coughed. When we got to the bedding closet, I asked the constable how often they sent the bedding out to be washed/sterilized because of the high incidence of TB. I got this blank look, followed by,"Wash the bedding??" After that, I brought lysol with me.
