I started getting text messages on my cell phone from 84040, I didn't know what it was or why I was getting them, it was asking me triva questions I deleted the messages thinking it was some kind of advertising from telus until the bill came I was billed $2 for each message total added to my bill $32 I was outraged! after a phone call to Telus I found out that it was billed from another company not Telus, when I asked why I have to pay them I was told they just collect the money. I have never sent a text message (phones are to make phone calls) or signed up for anything, the company? whoever they are can pick your phone number out of the blue and get $2 a message. I think I'd rather have telemarketers at least I can tell them to fuck off.

BTW if this happens to you reply to message with the word stop in the text and after a few more $2 messages it will stop.

there ought to be a law!

There is. One of my kids did the same thing. You have to initiate the service (whatever it is) for it to begin, so we had to eat a couple of stupid charges too. They can't pick you at random to bill.

Its such a scam, those text message businesses like glomobi are designed and built around kids running up their parents' phone bill. Who else whould sign up for that shit at $2 per text message? Triva question, jokes of the day, etc its garbage. I bet 90% of their business is non-consensual and there should be a law against it.

Reminds me of fax advertising. Almost every company I've worked for has a fax machine that spits out ads, mostly overnight. But that shit costs money in ink and paper and its unsolicited. It should be stopped immediately.

Give me your cell # I'll show you how it works, I found out kids do this as a prank all you need is a cell # you don't sign anything
