BP CEO: 'I'd like my life back'

BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward told reporters Sunday that he was sorry for the massive Gulf oil spill and hopes to have his life back soon.

The Times of London said in a Tuesday story that Hayward, whose clip was played over and over on U.S. cable news outlets Monday, "was facing a groundswell of popular anger after making a new gaffe."

That came when he was asked by reporters about how he would respond to residents of Louisiana.

"The first thing to say is 'I'm sorry,'" Hayward said. "We're sorry for the massive disruption it's caused their lives. There's no one who wants this over more than I do. I would like my life back."

Hayward said the company is trying to contain oil offshore. "As far as I'm concerned, a cup of oil on the beach is a failure," he said.

"What we're not faced with is a complete line of oil coming at us. It's more like guerrilla insurgency, if I can use military jargon," Hayward said. "And what we need to do is have a rapid response capability to get it as we identify it, rather than have it come onto the shore or onto the marsh."

This guy made 4.5 million last year, more than most make in a life time, and he want's his life back.

That's $4.5 million a year, before the bonuses and stock options kick in.

The guy's a complete douchnozzle. But, in a effort to be fair, I'll say that he probably just mispoke that particular gaffe. These executive dicks at BP are under massive amounts of unrelenting pressure right now, even to the point of possible criminal prosecutions being launched against them. While the situation is entirely due to their own greed, impatience, and short-sightedness, one has to at least understand that on a human level they aren't having too much fun right now. I want them to pay for what they've done but I at least understand what they must be feeling, even if their feelings won't do jack shit to make this ridiculous disaster of theirs go away any faster.

There is enough blame to go around, but most are forgetting the about the U.S. Legislation alowing short cuts.

An acoustic trigger costing $500,000 may have prevented oil spill, from the get go.

I hope greedy CEO's, and the oil lobbyist that saved BP $500,000 are really proud of themselves now.

Quote:
The device is called an acoustic trigger (aka. acoustic switch, actuator). It is a remote-controlled device deployed off Oil Rigs that sends acoustic impulses through the water, triggering an underwater valve or explosives to shut down the well even if the Rig is catastrophically damaged or abandoned.

Pull this from a blog... good read. (written by Genny Jackson)

Quote:
ENOUGH! Let’s call it what it really is an Eco Catastrophe of Global proportion that’s destroying the Gulf of Mexico and precious wetlands. Clean up efforts are tainted by lack of information and convenient lies.

The chemical company supplying the dispersant being used (750,000 gallons+) have refused to release the ingredients and yet they are said to have known Carcinogens and NO ONE KNOWS the long term affect to our Children, Sea Life and Oceans.

Our President needs to do the following IMMEDIATELY:

1. Remove BP. Confiscate their equipment and bring in the best scientific minds on the planet who have been hindered by not having factual data. BP has shown they will NEVER disclose all the facts. Be Transparent, release all data on the internet and let the scientist of the world in now before it is to late!

2. Put the military in charge of the onshore and offshore clean up, commission the companies that make the boom products to increase the production to 24 hours a day and supply all raw materials required.

3. Discontinue all dispersants, they allow oil and toxins to be hid below the surface and destroy all in its path. Scientific information available on the Exxon spill states it has been proven that chemical usage has hindered and altered recovery for perhaps decades while removing the actual oil and letting nature take over has recovered areas faster than estimated without Carcinogens and Mutations to the Eco system.

4. All agencies should report to one person in the White House whose ONLY responsibility is the Gulf Eco Catastrophe. This person needs to have a scientific background and report ONLY to the President

Politicians need to use their positions and Rebel now or rest assured the people of this great Country will and soon.
