They did it again!

A package was once again delevered to my house when nobody was home, the package was left sticking out of the mailbox in plain view from the street, the item was clearly marked signature required, the item was a .44 caliber revolver! This is not the first this has happened and every time a package is left on my door step or sticking out of the mailbox I phone to complain to deaf ears. This time CP contacted me and said the driver thought it was a "safe drop"item of low value and left it my mailbox as per policy

Canada Post safe drop policy:
When an item will not fit in the addressee’s regular mail receptacle, leaving it in a Safe Drop location will be considered. To be considered as a Safe Drop, the item must not require a signature, must not be in an area which is not authorized for safe drop, and cannot be left in the open (e.g. doorstep). A Safe Drop card, indicating the location of the Safe Drop, is left at the time of delivery.

In the end they said they were sorry and it won't happen again,I asked who's signature is on the card and they couldn't tell me, in other words when they screw up theres really nothing that can be done.
If you have something delivered have the shipper mark do not safe drop on the label, I doubt this will work if they can't see signature required, why would they see that

Well, as long as no ammo is mailed and the weapon isn't prohibited, it's all good.

The point was in reply to Curtman. While I agree with his sentiment, it's not illegal to have non-prohibited weapons sent in the mail.
However, the mailman was a complete fuckwit for leaving it where he did unless he was completely unaware of the contents.

Edit* The mailman wouldn't know what was in the package as it's prohibited to have markings identifying the contents on the outside of the package in the case of a firearm.

That was really tempting!

you don't really want the contents marked on the package, the assholes at the PO wll steal it for sure!

Signature required means that the carrier is supposed to deliver to the person named, that's why it "safe" to it through the mail, the dipshit that left the package didn't even get a reprimand.

It's not illegal to send seeds in the mail either, it's illegal to receive them without license from Health Canada to do that though.

Reporting a handgun missing would realy excite a lot of people! the RCMP would be all over this and I would be charged with mischief for sure, but it was tempting

I wonder if the mailman is required to have a PAL like sales clerks in an outfitters store
