I'm not trying to start a fight here, nor am I defending the Libs or Cons. I'm just trying to clarify it in my own mind. It's easy to complain about politicians, but much harder to offer alternatives of what they should have done. I think the govt has sold out to big business, so I favor solution to rectify that. Like abolishing tax cuts to the oil industry, say. Yet Albertans seem to think those are a really good idea.
But you're not trying to start a fight, no siree!
Oh, I get it now. Stating an opinion is starting a fight. Next you'll call me a troll. Yogi says the politicians have been screwing Canada. Giving away our resources way too cheaply and subsidizing the industry to do so certainly seems like a major way of screwing Canada. If that's considered starting a fight, then bring it.
Yes, stating unsubstantiated 'facts' is indeed trying to start a fight. You have said you are not Albertan, so how would you know that all Albertans favour subsidies to the oilsands?
We don't.

The GSI report [pdf] says removing the $2.82 billion oil subsidies, something the Canadian government has promised to the G20 it will do, would reduce the annual GDP in Alberta's oil sector by 6%, while having zero effect on Canada's national GDP. In fact, removing the subsidies would have a positive impact on the government's budget.
http://theenergycollective.com/nathanae ... -oil-sandsWe demand fair value for our resources, and we don't believe that billion dollar a month companies need subsidies. Polling reveals that we demand proper stewardship of our resources, and the government is finally listening.

Edmonton — A recent poll showing that Albertans overwhelmingly prefer subsidies for renewable and clean energy sends a message to the Stelmach government that its upcoming budget should include plans to develop a green economy for Alberta.
