Okay, I think my point about what I was trying to say was lost in the technicalities. Let me try this with a fresh start.
Now, the point I was trying to make, that even though Canada and Australia have many superficial similarities, like same form of government, same "nonrebelliousness" of its residents, same kilometers and kilograms and such.
But once we take a much closer look at both the US and Australia, Canada can relate better probably because we have a lot more Canadians within the United States, and the influences of the Americans on us. Australia, for example, like Shep said, probably is closer to the United States than us anyway, due to some of the political changes within said nation.
The reason why I brought up trade, was because trading with the United States is so huge for us, that our integration of both nations will never really be matched by Australia and Canada.
