Leave the kids alone.

Hows that for a fucked up situation. Why is our government not protecting these young Canadians? They may be too young to decide for themselves but they are Canadian just the same.

I have no idea who is right. If the mom just wants the kids, then that is just too bad and they should stay. if there is a reason for her to get the kids, say Dad can't provide for them, that's different. They should go to her. Overall though, based on what they kids seem to have said, they would be better off in Canada, all other things being equal.

When does the child have the right to decide what is good for themselves. It's not like Dad has a poor home life and mom could provide a better one. They both sound equal. So lets the kids decide, shoudln't they?

It's hard to tell without the mother's side of the story, but if both parents are able to provide for them and the children so vehemently want to stay with their father, that should indicate something underlying, shouldn't it?

A family split across the pond would be tough no matter how you cut it. One parent is going to become estranged one way or another.

-the family went to england so the father could take a teaching job.
-the mother went gay after moving to england.
-the father said f- that noise and took the kids back to Canada, where they were born
-the kids HATE england
-the kids LOVE Canada
-the mother's lawyers used a treaty used for returning kidnapped children to their parents.( Think "Not Without My Daughter" the movie with Sally Fields who married an Iranian who absconded with the kid to Iran when they had their revolution and decided to become an islamic fundamentalist)
-they have tried to send the kids back to england 2 or 3 times now but the cops in Chatham seem to not have the heart to make them get out of the car.(god bless you boys, if that is the case).
-the father seems to be a nice enough guy and his kids love him and Canada.
-the wife decided she is a lezzie AFTER geting married, having children and moving to the U.K.
-Who is the Asshole here? Father?Mother?Mother's lesbian partner? The cops in Chatham? Wrong x 4
-The canadian government for not sticking up for it's own born and bred citizens, thats who. Think about it, they have done this before. William Sampson, the dude kept in prison in Saudi Arabia.

My 2 c : the Canadian Liberal Government, wanting everyone to think they are world leaders in fairness and justice for all have once again FUCKED UP something that should be every law-abiding Canadians god given right.

No, children cannot decide what is best for themselves when they are 5 yrs old - which is why they cannot drink, vote, etc.

This is a no-win. I am shocked that there is a treaty that allows removal of Canadian citizens from their own country to live abroad...? Odd, but I don't know enough about this kind of thing.

So what....

Is there some kind of movement or website to get more facts and help out if it merits?

UPDATE:A judge has given the kids a temporary reprieve till next week.Hopefully this will give them enough time to find a way out of this mess. The treaty that the mom is using to get the kids was originally created to deal with kids that were kidnapped and taken out of their country illegally.Seems to me moving back to the country of their birth by their law-abiding father was not kidnapping.

Seems to me he should have started there in the first place. Then he may have been able to change the country of origin designation(they were there for one solid year making England not Canada their "country") In doing that he would have been looked apon a little more favorable in English courts.
