I'm sure by now we've all read a bunch about confirmaton bias and other issues having to do with how people make decisions about political and moral issues.

For those who haven't, basically most people seem to make a snap decision and then try to justify it. This means that in general, logic reason and facts are the worst way to persuade people, because they'll only hear things that support what they already believe.

That got me wondering, has anyone here actually had their mind changed on an issue because of arguments that were made on the boards?

I have seen a lot of arguments and perspectives I haven't seen before, which have broadened my own perspectives on issues, but I can't say that I have seriously changed my mind on a major issue. I am always right, after all.

Most of what is posted on these forums is total bullshit, that being said however sometimes people do come up with arguments that have changed my opinions.

I have made post on here believing the information true only to be proven wrong. So of course I was forced to readjust my stance based off changing information.

Kind of. The discussions of the Filibuster followers has altered my position on some topics. I enjoy reading them and as Pseudonym posted, it certainly broadened my perspective on issues.

I have learned from CKA and other political forums. Some times a comment will ring true and I'll add it my reference points. Sometimes the discussion is about things I haven't thought about so that'll clear that up. You also learn what other people think, they will outline it here.
