Yes it is the Rebel, because it is significantly lower to the ground than anything else I've looked at.

I'm doing the full motorcycle driver training course and will check out the book. Thanks for the suggestion.

Any of those would be a good choice but dealer access is important because, chances are, you may need a turn signal or lever, once in a while. The rebels are solid, durable and common. You should have no problems what so ever with it.
You can skimp on the bike but definately don't skimp on the gear.
