I just wanted to rant, because I went to scope the scooter I've had my eye on Saturday. It is the very sharp Piaggio BV250. Unfortunately, I'm TOO FREAKING SHORT.

How tall do you have to be?? I found a site that ranks by seat height and will have to check out some of those. At this point I have my eye on the Honda Big Ruckus....that is unless I turn out to be freakishly small for that one too.

So the problem is your legs are too short, or your head is too low? I guess I assumed the latter, but I haven't driven a scooter, much less bought one.

My legs are too short.....I can't seem to touch the ground, which may prove a problem at red lights. I'm about 5'5, which I didn't think was short...but apparently it is.

This is a new one.
A quick search shows the seat height of scooters. Please note that many of these may not be available in Canada.

25.8 2006 Yamaha Morphous
26.2 2006 Honda Helix
27.4 2006 Suzuki Burgman 400
27.4 2006 Suzuki Burgman 400 Type S
28.2 - 28.7 2006 Honda Big Ruckus
28.3 2006 Honda Reflex
28.3 2006 Honda Reflex ABS
28.3 2006 Honda Reflex Sport
28.3 2006 Honda Reflex Sport ABS
28.9 2006 Honda Metropolitan
28.9 2006 Honda Ruckus
29.5 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650
29.5 2006 Suzuki Burgman 650 Exec
29.5 2006 Yamaha Majesty
29.7 2005 Aprilia Mojito Custom 150
29.7 2006 Honda Elite 80
29.7 2006 Honda Silver Wing
29.7 2006 Honda Silver Wing ABS
29.9 2006 Yamaha Vino 125
30.3 2005 Aprilia Atlantic 200

Scooters have a very low center of gravity so the rume of thumb, that you must have both heels down may not be true. If that was the case, no one would be able to ride 42" seat height dirt bikes, right?

Good luck with this.

These may help???

Image

Training wheels are one of the easiest things to install on a bicycle.

Steps:
1. Look at the bike's rear wheel.

2. Find the bolts on each side of the wheel that hold the wheel to the bike's frame.

3. Unscrew one of the bolts with a crescent wrench. You may have to hold the second bolt - on the other side of the wheel - with a second wrench.

4. Look at the two training wheel assemblies. Each will consist of one training wheel attached to a metal post that has a hole in it.

5. Slide one training wheel assembly onto the place where the bolt was removed. Slide the hole onto the bike where you removed the bolt.

6. Replace the bolt and tighten part way with the wrench.

7. Repeat on the other side.

8. Adjust the training wheels so that they are slightly above the ground when the bicycle is upright. The bike should tilt a bit when one training wheel touches the ground.

9. Tighten down both bolts.

Tips:
The training wheels should be designed to center themselves. If not, check that the posts are vertical - perpendicular to the ground - and that the training wheels are even before tightening everything down.

Gradually raise the training wheels as your cyclist gains experience and confidence.

Warnings:
Check the bolts for tightness regularly.

Have your child wear a helmet when riding.
