One thing I always did like about Canadian Tire was their return policy . Well this time around I was shock and surprise when I try to return a electic power washer which I only used one time . I wasn't happy with it and I brought it back to find out that they wouldn't refund my money . Has this ever happen to you with a item ? First time for me . I was told I can only get exchange . I then ask for store credits which they finally agree to but even still I was surprise they didn't give me a refund ...

Too many folks buy something with the intention of using it once and then taking it back. Not that you did this, Mr Fox but some folks out there are cheapskates and should rent things instead of wasting peoples time.
I had a friend who worked in Walmart and folks would "rent" pants".
It was really pathetic.

That is pretty sad .

I did look for a better model which they did have but everyone I look at was already open or at least it seem like they all were open before . I was surprise and a little pissed . If I knew about this beforehand I wouldn't of been so pissed . Though I still did get store credit which now when shopping there I will be more careful . This is another reason as to why I am posting this . To give user the heads up on Canadian Tire return policy .

It depends on what it is you purchased. Their return policy is different for different items. For things like camping equipment it's only a few days...I would imagine it's the same for a pressure washer as people would try for a "free rental" to wash down their siding, decks etc. after a long winter...

Lots of people abuse stores' favourable return policies and the rest of us pay for it....I consider it akin to stealing.

Alberta has a provincially enforced 10 day return policy that applies to most things.

It was Canadian Tire that prompted my blog http://www.canadaka.net/blog/ttruscott to boycott stores that don't measure up.

The blog is now fueled by telemarketers.

I just returned a pressure washer last year and returned it but my case was quite a bit different than yours. I bought one and about a week later the model up went on sale for less than what I had bought mind for so I went in to return it. Only problem was I had lost my receipt. Luckily for me I had used my Canadian Tire card for the purchase so what ended up happening is that I had to buy the one on sale and then I had to wait until my bill came in (about 2 to 3 weeks later) to take the first one I had bought back. When I did finally bring it back I didn't have any problems but I should mention that I never even opened the box.

I've returned other things and have never really had a problem but I've never returned anything that I used first unless it was defective. I think their battery warranty is a flippin scam though. They're not overly forthcoming in telling people that when you return them they only give you a depreciated value.

My neighbour is famous for that. He'll go down to the hardware store and buy ladders, drills, saw, you name it and then do a little home project. Once he's done everything goes back to the store. At first I thought it was kind of funny but after seeing him do it time and time again I almost want to go give him slap upside the back of his head one of these days. It's people like that that screw things up for the honest people out there.

 Ya I know. I use to work out by Rimbey a lot. When we do a pipeline we pound in two marker posts at each fence line and paint them so everyone knows there's a pipeline there. One time we were doing the marker posts and we came back the next day and found all the posts we had put in the day before had gone missing. So we kind of scratched out heads and put new posts back in. Next day same thing, all the posts were gone. So once agin we put in new posts. We were on our way home after the third day of doing this and we noticed when we were driving by the colony that there was a stack of fence posts that were painted bue and white, the same colours we were painting our marker posts. It was pretty funny at the time.

One thing about the Hud's though, if there is ever a farmer who falls on hard times or needs help the Hud's are all ways he first ones to show up to help. They have some different ideas about "ownership" but they really are good people.
