Weeeeeee gotta love this land of ours. Steal a $65,000 ring and claim you were to stressed out to realise what you were doing. And get away without even a criminal record. Who says politics doesnt pay, errr I mean crime. And to boot he will also get his $80,000 a year pension.

I encourage all hard working folks to go steal something real expensive and then tell the courts you suffer from Acute Svend Syndrome.

What a joke.......

Most first time offenders who are able to prove such a defense, no matter what their politics, are given similar sentences.

Prove such a defence? What, that he was good at his job? Woopdeedoo, Im a kick ass roofer, but do you think Im going to be released without a criminal record after stealing $65,000 worth? Highly doubtful. And that accident he had in '97, 7 years ago, if that is still causing him stress, he should have taken medical leave a hell of alot sooner than a few months ago, like 5 years ago....

Actually, if you are able to prove that you are steadily employed, have no former record related to theft and/or criminal activity, and are a contibuting member of the community, yes you would get the same sentence.

Stress (mental state) and the chances of a defendant reoffending, as well as rehabilitative concerns are all taken into account.

Our legal system has a lot of problems, but this is an instance of ow the system works, not how it has failed.

I've never liked Robinson. Pretty much think he's just a headline grabber and only really out to promote himself. Many of his "causes" were just the flavour of the month and after the media left so did Robinson. With something like this I think he should have recieved far more than a slap on his limp wrist.
