Guy, I work for a Refugee Organization. I was in Ache, Indonesia, just after the Tsunami, organizing food relief and shelters.. in January...
I know you have great big hard-on about the UN doing F$ck all, but until you realise there are some very important people out there doing the blood and guts humanitarian things that save lives, enjoy living your lovely peaceful neighbourhood. May you never suffer like those less fortunate than you.
I won't so long as I can stand up to those who would impose the suffering.

The police were wrong to be there and this law in Australia is utterly wrong.
Crime rate is higher, sexual assaults, and assaults... Rape and bar fights... I don't think guns legislation would prevent that..
Australia, police were doing their job, not wrong.. American's love to pass judgement on other countries and should do better to look at a mirror..
http://www.bestplaces.net/crime02/crime_study3.asp Actually, I found it hard to find data on crime rates that isn't slanted towards, one side or another of the gun question...
Does the Fed in US put out something similar to that of the Australians

New Orleans... HURRICANE...
Stand up to that and prevent it from imposing upon you...

Trust me apple pie, if home made in your place, I would have to watch out for worms...
Worms cannot live in a pie poisoned with cyanide, so there won't be any nasty ol' worms for you to watch out for. So when you coming over for coffee and pie?

Sure we have crime but 'a spectacular rise in murder rate' you are having a laugh. Any gun related death makes the headlines due to that nature of the general attitude to guns so we probably focus on it more than you.
Tony Martin is someone who should not be allowed to own a gun he is the last person in the world who should have been allowed to own a gun, the man is insane. Oh and ' defending his life' get your facts right before you spout such bollocks. He shot the intruder in the back as he was trying to escape, hardly a life threatening situation methinks. What a knob
Not once in your comment did you criticize the criminals.
You afford the criminals more rights on Mr. Martin's property than you do Mr. Martin.
And there is your priniciple problem and that attitude explains why you have such a problem with crime because you are more concerned with the rights of the criminals than with the rights of the law abiding people who are their victims.
No government can long stand that oppresses her people in such a way.
The issue of the criminals is completely seperate, yes they were pikey low life scum, but your argument was that he was defending his life which is plainly wrong, yes he was defending his property from thiefs but that does not justify shooting someone in the back. That my dear chap is murder whichever way you look at it.
The wider issue is that the old adage that crime does not pay is incorrect and the cure to the problem lies in stiffer penalties for the crime not in placing a gun in everyones hand

Damn, You got me on Lapine... and you are right about the tax cheat should still be allowed to own a firearm..
But C-61 does not distinguish crime from violent crime . . .

Lapine used a high powered rifle if I remember correctly. Unfortutately, I don't know what changes could have been made to prevent that from happening..
Nope. .22 LR Cal. A 'tack driver' that you could get at any Canadian Tire. With a 20 shot clip. The kind of gun you give to someone so they learn how to shoot.

But then that guy that shot the RCMP offices about 5 months ago.. I don't think it would have mattered whether he registered or not, as I believe he brought the guns in from the States...

Excuse me? Yes, whenever I hear some nutjob rounds a bunch of university students in a room and shoots them, I get warm fuzzies to hear the weapon was registered.
Whatever.

I read that if someone comes into your home with out being invited,(ie breaks in) you can do whatever you see fit to him. Or I'm an idiot
