WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!! This (Lxxxxxl) paper and the flunkies that work for it think if we ban all private ownership of guns in Canada, that will solve these shootings we are having!!! Do they not realize that the crimal element will not be turning in their guns!!! only the law abiding members of society! So what is the purpose of taking guns for people that don't cause the problem in the first place. And once there are no longer "any guns in Canada" I guess maybe the police should stop carrying them too, eh?
While we're at it, I guess this guy would like to see all dogs distroyed in Canada, because a few have kill, then I guess they all need to go, right?
Also I guess we should outlaw the use of privately owned motor cars, as they cause about 100 times more deaths ever year than guns do!!! But the fact that a good number of traffic deaths are due to drunk drivers, and poor drivers, we can't just pick on those poor soles, everyone must suffer!
The problem is CRIME, not gun ownership!! If these slobs didn't have anyguns, and they knew you didn't have any either, then they would just smuggle them in, or use a machetee instead.... Getting rid of my guns will not help fight crime to any degree, just make it easier for them to rob me!
Rant off (Must not pick on the Libs, they don't like that...)

Sure, Canada should ban guns just like Britain and Australia did and then enjoy the spectacular rise in the murder rate and the "hot burglary" rate just like they did.
Those fuckwits proved that gun bans make crime worse and they still won't back off of their precious liberal misconceptions no matter how many people die.

I am sorry? i seemed to have missed the reporting of this massive rise in the uk's murder rate? Strange you would have thought it would have made the 10 o'clock news or something
Sure we have crime but 'a spectacular rise in murder rate' you are having a laugh. Any gun related death makes the headlines due to that nature of the general attitude to guns so we probably focus on it more than you.
I know which society i would rather live in

So do I.
I'm a Brit who luckily left the good old UK before the lefties took over.
Long live Margaret Thatcher.
Long live the NRA
Hey wait....we don't have the NRA in Canada. What a bummer

And we are glad with the choice you've made... But tell me this, since the UK has had more restrictive gun laws, have your violent crime rates gone down or up????

I'd rather live here than in a country where fuckwit politicians up until recently prohibited people from defending themselves when attacked.
Or where people like Tony Martin are actually prosecuted for defending their lives and property from criminals!

What utter bullshit.

Tony Martin is someone who should not be allowed to own a gun he is the last person in the world who should have been allowed to own a gun, the man is insane. Oh and ' defending his life' get your facts right before you spout such bollocks. He shot the intruder in the back as he was trying to escape, hardly a life threatening situation methinks. What a knob

Hi, I'm a long time Canadian, first time write in this forum..
I'm sorry that I took so long to get through this site and notice some of the totally inaccurate and sometimes laughable stuff that some have written here in this great site.
Understanding the differences between Yankee and Limey philosophies of life as placed Canadians/even those living in Canada who aren't Canadian/ and interesting vantage point.
And as Toronto cracks with the sound of gun fire, I realise that gun control (eventhough it is good thing, because if you have to register a car permit why not a gun) isn't the problem... Its that country south of the 49th Parallel that keeps on selling guns and smuggling them into our safe country that is the problem..
Take the NRA agenda and shove it.. Canadians deal with conflicts without guns.

Need I remind you that not all liberals favour gun control and not all conservatives support gun ownership. I am a liberal and a left winger and I fully support people being allowed to own guns. If we are going to erroneously label all those who want gun control as "liberals" can I then resort to call all conservatives "mindless religious fanatics who seek only to convert the world by any means necessary to its own personal religion".?
Come on Bart, stop blaming liberals for all societies ills.

I would never go so far as to ban guns.
Nor would I ever allow an organization that is bent on putting one in every persons hands dictate terms to my government.
A gun registration (gun control), prohibits certain makes of weapons and on those that are permitted, requires registration and acknowledgement that the individual takes responsibility for ownership of the firearm, and not kill yourself or someone with it.
Big deal, most civilized societies require that you register a marriage, possibly for the same reasons.

So now America is to blame for Toronto's gun problem
Take a look outside this narrow philosophy and take time to smell the roses.
It's the drug sub culture, coupled with greed and stupidity, AND Canada's failed justice system. The NRA isn't about gun ownership, it's about preserving a peoples rights to freedom.
Do you not yet see the slow and insidious erosion of Canadian freedoms.
