If you paid for it, it wasn't manditory.

It doesn't cost anything to get married in the Catholic Church.

:? i don't know where you are trying to go with this....but yes marriage courses are mandatory....and the the cost of the course the priest signed us up for was $175. anyway I'm not talking about getting married, yes it doesn't cost anything to get married in the church...but the marriage PREP class did have a fat price tag on it.

I did the Marriage Class with my wife, We didn't pay for it though.
I thought some of these things were funny but it was 2 nights of stuff we already knew so what the heck as we'd been together for 7 years (living in sin with a bastard child born out of wedlock).

The downside for me was my wife's preist trying to convert me the whole time, he actually said he wouldn't marry us if I didn't and would convince the Diocese to deny her permission to marry me, I told him we would go to a JP if we must at which point he shut up.

I did it for my wife in the end, she wanted a Catholic wedding, I'm not Catholic but was raised with the same morals and values so it wasn't a huge deal.

To the preist though I'm a HEATHEN, he thought my good old Irish Catholic name should mandate my religion. [B-o]
