We stayed at the out-laws for Christmas this year and things were going fine as they usually do, apart from losing any and all control over the kids for the duration. The real trouble started one night when we were all sat down watching tv. A program was on about 3 military couples looking to buy their first homes and the hosts of the show basically helped them find the home they wanted for their budget. It was apptly called Homes for Heroes. Anyway, the first couple comprised of two serving army officers, the boyfriend had had both his legs blown off in Afghanistan and had artificial legs. Now we come to the point that got my blood boiling. The boyfriend was wearing shorts and so obviously this showed his artificial limbs off. The next words out of my mother-in-law's mouth just stunned me at first. " Why does he wear shorts and not trousers to cover his legs up."

You what!! And to say that in front of me, a serving soldier! My wife asked what was up with me as she could clearly see I wasn't happy. I had to bite my tongue very hard!! Fucking in laws!!

I have a friend (a woman) who is an amputee and she doesn't cover up either. Why would she? Who cares?
My blood would be boiling too, but I don't know if I would have bitten my tongue...

I would probably would have made an off hand sarcastic remark, but I think I could have gotten away with it. It sucks that your inlaws are so insensitive, I have the same problem with my mother inlaw at times. I used to let it slide but when she started throwing around the word jigaboo, I stopped biting my tongue.

Your M-I-L would shit if she ever met my friend. She had a double mastectomy but wears falsies under her clothing. When she goes swimming, she reaches into her bathing suit, whips them out and tosses them at someone and says, "Here can you hold my tits for me while I swim?"

Now there's a blast from the old racist past 8O .

Christ on a crutch, I thought that name went out circulation back in the 50's?

Some people just don't get it and your mother inlaw seems to be one of them. To bad when you get married the relatives come as a package deal.

The sad part is that everytime I see the commercial for a certain spray lubricant, that stupid derogatory racist name pops up in my head.
