I happen to think that a guy wearing a pink shirt looks ridiculous.

Whenever I make this statement, its usually followed by some remark on my being homophobic or macho. I'm neither, actually, I just have tastes in clothing like everyone else, and pink shirts are dumb.

These remarks I can handle, but it's the next accusation that drives me up the wall: since I don't like pink shirts, I'm obviously insecure as a man.

Who the hell decided wearing a pink shirt was the determing factor of emotional security? I don't like pink shirts, but I'm sure as hell not afraid of them, and I'm not going to wear one just to make a point.

In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all the dolts who walk around feeling proud of themselves for being "secure" in pink obviously have something to prove, and are probably less confident than most people. "Look at me, I'm so secure that I'm actually wearing a pink shirt! Don't you question my manhood, because I'm questioning it on my own!!"

Now that pink shirts are "in" (I think American Eagle has some sort of official "pink shirts only" regulation, along with their ongoing "faded and ripped jeans only" policy), can you even say that it's bold anymore? Maybe if I saw a pink shirt guy walking down the street 10 years ago, I'd actually be impressed, but it's so overhyped that people should start seeing through that now and realize pink for the truly awfully colour that it is.

I happen to have a pink shirt that I wear quite often although it doesn't stand out as much as the shirt in your picture as it is mixed with other colours. As you said though it is more to do with the "in" fashion at the moment and nothing else. I just liked it and that's my personal taste. I have seen some pink shirts that are god awful!

I love pink and pink shirts. It's my favorite color.

I'm olive complexioned. In the summer I turn from my winter green to a nice copper, pink goes well with my skin color.

I have a daughter and try to make the overt attempts to reverse stereotypes so I took Pink as my favorite color. Her fave is blue.

My favorite things in the world are pink.

I didn't realize there was a clothing police movement out on pink shirt thoughs. That's kind of amuzing.

Are you talking about me? :)

I don't think I ever have worn a pink shirt. It looks kind of weird. But whatever floats your boat.

was that you on the pic?

nah!
ever wondered why they normally don't shoot mature models wearing such shirts? im not dropping hints... it's just pink shirts wouldn't suit them... Personally I don't consider this trend good or bad... it's not worth all the attention and apparently doesn't have the social significance some are trying to attribute to it.
there can be only two factors to consider when making up your mind what to wear: your taste and the mirror! imo

My husband has been wearing pink t-shirts and dress shirts for over 20 years and he looks great in them. It's all about attitude and it helps if you have dark hair and a dark complection, some guys can't wear pink and some can't wear red. Maybe it's an age thing, the young fellas prefer pastel ugly poly itchy skin clinging god awful stuff.

ha! The one other point I decided not to mention - the whole, "I'm challenging gender roles" argument. I was with you for the whole olive-skinned argument, but this is too much.

Pink is a colour - nothing more. You're not going to change the world by questioning the fact that PINK IS A GIRL'S COLOUR.

Does that make it wrong for a guy to wear pink? Absolutely not, but the schmuck who's wearing pink just to be "challenging" is a slave to stereotypes just as much as those who wouldn't wear pink for the same reasons.

A colour is not social commentary.

So is everything black and white to you or do you view the world in shades of grey?

Real Men Wear Pink
From Daniel Billett,
Your Guide to Men's Fashion / Grooming.

"There is something alluring about pink. Maybe that’s because psychologically it is known to have a calming effect. Or maybe it’s because pink is complimentary to most skin tones, unless you already have a lot of pink tone in your skin (like me). Or maybe it’s because a man who wears pink exudes confidence, yet is sensitive. It could be as simple as the fact that pink is easy to coordinate with almost every color in your wardrobe--it goes amazingly well with greys, tans, black, navys and other blues tones. And lastly, if you're still not convinced how great pink is, women love pink and are more likely to give you a second glance. So give pink a try if you haven’t already."

I don't mind a guy wearing pink, in fact I think it can look really really good! But I'm with ya on the "it takes a real man to pull off pink" attitude... ..I mean either you like it or you don't and you either wear it or you don't. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it!

Well I'm not how wearing a pink shirt changes your gender role or challenges it. People have already done that they wear kilts. Just look at these lads with their skirts on. :P
