I happen to think that a guy wearing a pink shirt looks ridiculous.
Whenever I make this statement, its usually followed by some remark on my being homophobic or macho. I'm neither, actually, I just have tastes in clothing like everyone else, and pink shirts are dumb.
These remarks I can handle, but it's the next accusation that drives me up the wall: since I don't like pink shirts, I'm
obviously insecure as a man.
Who the hell decided wearing a pink shirt was the determing factor of emotional security? I don't like pink shirts, but I'm sure as hell not afraid of them, and I'm not going to wear one just to make a point.
In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all the dolts who walk around feeling proud of themselves for being "secure" in pink obviously have something to prove, and are probably less confident than most people. "Look at me, I'm so secure that I'm actually wearing a pink shirt! Don't you question my manhood, because I'm questioning it on my own!!"
Now that pink shirts are "in" (I think American Eagle has some sort of official "pink shirts only" regulation, along with their ongoing "faded and ripped jeans only" policy), can you even say that it's bold anymore? Maybe if I saw a pink shirt guy walking down the street 10 years ago, I'd actually be impressed, but it's so overhyped that people should start seeing through that now and realize pink for the truly awfully colour that it is.
