I'll think of another way to get some decent points across without putting the site in Jeopardy.

Music is everything to me.

House is shakin' so hard from the volume I feel Like I am driving my washer.... :twisted:

I am not sure if the "Laws" are applicable to Canada.

Must check with "Sven" Uber neighbour.

He was wrong once... but that was my fault.

It was legal in Canada last I looked,tried to find the discussion posts we had on another forum but no luck. The American recording industry has taken to salting certain music swapping sites with bad files though. So even if it's legal I dont think you want to draw this kind of attention to your site.
The industry did get a cease and desist for targetting kazaa lite users in Canada and tracking them and posting their names and ISP's. There was even a site to see if you were getting individually tracked but it's down now. Somewhere on this site the info was posted about the laws months ago. I know because I responded with a few links.

Firstly, I am scared to click that link. Secondly, as far as I know, the law in Canada stands something like this. It is fully LEGAL (allowed) to download music and such. But it is ILLEGAL (not allowed) to upload. So I could take music from Erinites, but he could not give it to me....They made it like this so pay sites could still offer downloads but it would stop file sharing between regualr people. I am not guarenteeing, but as far as I know, this is correct.

I think I found it. So here we go as long as one doesn't:

http://www.canadianlawsite.com/intellectual.htm wrote:
80(2) Subsection (1) does not apply if the act described in that subsection is done for the purpose of doing any of the following...(with the sound recording),
(a) selling or renting out...;
(b) distributing, whether or not for the purpose of trade;
(c) communicating to the public by telecommunication; or
(d) performing, or causing to be performed in public."

That site pretty well explains it. So, see, uploading (thusly the distribution of the music) is not allowed. But downloading is allowed. Check out the site. It explains it pretty well.
