SPIRITWOOD, SASK. -- It could take days to find Curtis Dagenais, the RCMP said yesterday as dozens of police continued an aggressive search over 200 square kilometres in northern Saskatchewan for a man accused of severely wounding two young officers with gunfire.

The RCMP say Mr. Dagenais, 41, shot the officers on Friday night after a car chase before disappearing in the densely wooded bush near his father's farm.

He knows the land intimately, has not been seen since and it's unclear whether he is alive, although the RCMP said they are almost certain he is still in the area.

"What his frame of mind is and where he is are still unknown," Sergeant Brian Jones of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said yesterday.

The search for the suspect involves dozens of officers, dogs and teams in camouflage gear, as well as a helicopter...

I am not sure how that is racist. The fact is that they are white people. I would say that shooting a cop is a fairly crazy action.

there's actually a very ugly story behind this...mr dagenais claims he shot in self-defense..sounds fishy but could it be true? talking to truckers from that neck of the woods seem to confirm mr dagenais and his father were in fact the subjects of police harassment and one documented case where he was ticketed by the police for his trailer being something like 1 ft too long would confirm that..but all that aside..a truly decent law-abiding citizen would contact the police in person find out what the problem is and how they could improve their relationship

well dont get me wrong...do i believe the police saw him and made a decision to him out of their hair for the last time? noway..but i dont have a problem believing mr dagenais honestly though they were going to kill them..on that same note i also believe mr dagenais was delusional and in need of psychiatric help...pity 2 fine rcmps have to get wasted over something so stupid
