Shouldn't your Federal MP send Info to you bilingually? My the BLOC head PM in my riding Richard Nadeau (Gatineau). Sends his door to door info in French only and refuses to offer and English copy. Even though the French version says (in small lettering hidden at the back of the form) "available in English on request". Ya sure, I went to his continuant office only to be told to bugger off in the nicest way possible.

How about sending it bilingually to start with BLOC HEAD!

Ok the rant part is done, now the order of events.

First I called his office in the riding. I was told I needed to go in to the office to make the request in person. The info is available but you must pick one up there. I guess they hope you will be too lazy to do that and forget the whole thing. I mentioned that he is the representative for the entire riding regardless if I voted for him or not. Since he is a FEDERAL MP this correspondence should be bilingual. I should not have to REQUEST IT IN ENGLISH!

Second time I called his parliamentary office. I don't know if this is always the case but it transfers back to the riding office. Same conversation took place. This time I said that he had an opportunity here to show that he has an interest in not just the francophones in his riding but everyone. (good eh). Again I was told the English copies are available but I need to go in to his office.

Now I go into the office. No the English copies are not available. OH WAIT! we did have some but now we are out of them. Ya sure a likely story. I guess there is so much requests it that they ran out. (I am not that slow) I asked how many French copies do they print and how many English ones are printed? No body either has the answer or they don't want to tell me that they don't bother to print any in English. I am then told that I could be put on a LIST OF PEOPLE REQUESTING IT IN ENGLISH!. WHAT! I need to be singles out, for what? I need to give them my name, address, phone number, ect. AGAIN WHY? Perhaps this way they have identified me as a malcontent and possible dangerous person to the MP in question. I am then told that I did not need to come in. This could have been done over the phone. I am now getting steamed.

I have yet to receive anything in English or Bilingually

I will not go on and on. I have called numerous times since and visited the office once more. They know me well now. (and I am sure they have since sent my info to the RCMP as a potential Crackpot) When I call I identify myself as his favorite Anglophone continuant.

Has anybody else had a similar experience? Any suggestions?

BTW I did a quick Google on the "Honorable Minister" and he is the BLOC's Critic on Official Languages.
FOR SHAME M. NADEAU!

That's pretty sad. Would the local newspaper print you're letter asking him about that?
I've never asked for different languages but I'd like if my NDP MP could send her newsletter on something soft and absorbent, preferably in 2 or 3 ply.

Poor you Bluesbud, I live in Hull my MP is Marcel Proulx I used to get his propaganda but I called his office and asked to be removed from his mailing list.

These fuckers are the first ones to quote the bilingualism policy verbatim when it suites them.
If I were you, I would seriously consider sending this info to Lowel Green @ CFRA. They cant just pick and choose when the want to follow the Bilingualism policy. This shit makes me sick.

Stick it to them dude seriously, send this info to Lowel. And every other media outlet. If that was me I certainly would. When Quebec is a country they can do this shit, but for now they have to play by the rules , the maple leaf on their fucking paychecks every two weeks says so.

And they said you have to come down and pick it up ? my ass. They never printed any.

The Bloc and PQ need to wake up and realize that there are still quite a few Anglos in La Belle Province...Bastards.

Why? I thought their goal was to remove all of them?

You would think in Gatinau of all places it would be bilingual, but this is stupid.

Like Ride said, try getting your local paper involved and maybe that'll get his office to use Babel Fish or something.

In my riding, my MP sends his stuff only in English, but considering the demographics here (80% Caucasian), I don't think anyone's going to make a fuss over whether it's in French or not.

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of it quite like that. On that note, a revised sentence:

In my riding, my MP sends his stuff only in English, but considering the demographics here (80% English speaking), I don't think anyone's going to make a fuss over whether it's in French or not.

I have had these news letters from different parties in the past, from both provincial and federal governments. It has not mattered if I was in Quebec or Ontario, it was always bilingual. I can't help but wonder if this is just an other way to upset Anglos, and get them fed up enough to leave.

Well no one has complained here so far I suppose if someone wants it in French they probably would make it so. I think most people out your way are from India or other parts of the Asiatic rather than French Canadian.

I guess if most of Quebec speaks French and if you are in an area that the vast majority do I could see it just being in French. Although if your area is like half French and half English you would think it would be in both.

Oh only 10.1% of Gatineau speaks English bluesbud so that is why you get things only in French. 87.6% speak French at home.

The point is....He is a Federal minister of parliament. If every other party can do it Bilingually why can't he? That way he will not have to offer it in French OR English! By doing this it sends a message. YOU DON"T COUNT!

Well no one here does it for the French for federal politics either. Yes you probably don't count you are a minority. :P Well except maybe the liberal party they tend to try and get their votes so maybe you should vote for them?
