Why can't these low life bastards get it through their thick heads some people do not want to be called? The do not call list is not working, today alone I have been called 4 times I write down the company name (if they give it out before they hang up)and request I be put on their do not call list. Can't these poor simple idoits get a real job? How can anybody fall for these sale pitchs? send me $399 and I will give you a free trip, nobody can be that stupid or can they?

There was a report that the do not call list was causing some people a bigger problem. I used to have call display on TV and didn't answer certain numbers, or let voice mail take care of it.

My name is on the list I was the first one! I have been waiting for this forever and now it just doesn't seem to be working. Why don't they start a call me list? That would be the shortest list in Canada! When the political parties call I always ask what their stand is on unwanted phone calls this catches them off guard.

It works fine for me . I am sure asking to be put on the companies do not call list is useless. The DNCL only registers by number not name are you sure you're on the right one?

The problem with the do-not call list, as I understand it, was that that the database was hacked by a US company who immediately sold the list to a whole host of other telemarketing agencies that were not part of the original agreement. I just keep my spare referees' whistle by the phone.

It wasn't an agreement it's the law..you can't opt out of it.

Sometimes I google the number and you find a whole bunch of people get the same calls here is a web site devoted to exposing these scum

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-336-1352

I found the name of a company on this site that called me by computer 8 times a day, when I called the number a voice asked "dial the number of the extension would like" I picked 23 out of the air, the most shocked person gasped and asked "how did you get this number" same place you got mine I replied

"No organization is exempted from the National Do Not Call List (DNCL). But certain kinds of calls are. If you make unsolicited calls for registered charities, political parties, to conduct public opinion surveys or offer newspaper subscriptions, for example, your calls are exempted"

there is no agreement, it's the law.

It was hacked in the US, where the companies aren't restricted by our laws. The call centres from there and elsewhere can continue to annoy you.

What's the "N" stand for? It doesn't apply to non-Canadian telemarketers. The hacked call list was sold to telemarketers in India and the Bahamas, I think, who would not agree to abide by the law and can't be made to because they're outside the country.

Sure you can, if you're telemarketing from India and got a hold of the list.

Just don't answer it, get a voice mail and a call-id display thing, unknown numbers get voicemail and don't get pissed off. Thats just a waste of energy.

Well, that's one solution, but once I've dragged my fat ass off the couch to go and look at the caller-ID display, I'm already angry when I see that in-coming call is coming from 000-000-0000. How are they able to do that, mask their phone number?
