Read the various discussions on this forum if you haven't been following along. Just read Martin's whine that hasn't Buffet suffered enough, paying 6 mil, when under a fair system he would have paid much more. Of course Martin has no use for Buffet. Most of the right wing posters on this forum have come out against Buffet's crusade to have the rich pay more.

If you're going to jump into a discussion and accuse me of just wanting to stir the pot, maybe clue in a bit first. I mean on this forum, just me posting readily accessible media pieces about how the rich are not paying an equal tax rate to lesser income earners is considered stirring the pot, so I guess I'm guilty.

See this is why I called you a moron. Yes, Buffet and a few other mega rich are saying they should at least pay the same percentage as people who make a lot less money. (And he's actually saying the very wealthy should pay a slightly higher percentage) But, as Brenda points out, just on this forum, that idea gets the spittle flying around here, and Buffet is denigrated for it. Same with the majority of the well off, who do nothing but bitch about the taxes they pay.

You have done this thing before, where you totally ignore or misrepresent the discussion that's gone on about a topic, only to make an attack on me. I don't know if that's on purpose or if you really are a moron. Comes to the same thing.

Perhaps it's time for Buffet to follow through and get his company to pay the (billion dollars worth of )taxes they owe going back to 2002.

Buffett is a hypocrite of the worst degree.

Nah. All Buffet really did was expose how easy the wealthy have it and how much the basics of the system have been permanently gamed in their favour. We all owe Buffet a big thank you for helping the rest of us understand how an untouchable plutocracy actually functions.

Wow, I'm late to the party. But I have two points to add.

First, I don't think DanSC literally meant the pay stub was photoshopped. I think he was reflexively repeating an internet meme with a meaning closer to this. He can correct me if I'm wrong.

Second, debating whether or not to raise taxes and on whom is a way of responding to ever-rising spending. It is only fair for the rich to pay more in taxes than the poor, but to continually increase the total federal burden on all Americans every year since the 1950s is still a dumb, destructive pattern. If post-WW2 spending had remained at pre-WW2 levels, the issue of who is paying them wouldn't be a big enough issue to be divisive.

2 farmers in the valley. Both have 1 cow.
1st farmer works hard, gets a 2nd cow.
Normal person would look at that and say 'wow, if I work harder I can get a 2nd cow
too, my neighbor isn't any smarter then me.
A spiteful bastard would kill the 2nd cow.

Nice tale, but it's a far fetched comparison to what Buffet is doing.
He's not buying a second cow but rather milking a whole nation.
