Apparently some uniquely Canadian word that is never used in general conversation, that lacks a clear definition and whose history is in question.

Can anybody clear this up?

I was under the impression that it was slang for Canadian white trash, but SCTV's Mackenzie brother's use seems to have lifted it to iconic status albeit with a slightly less derogatory slant. I've also heard into used as a synonym for "Canuck"

Watch CBC's History of Hockey documentary series and you will find the answer to this.

Canadian hockey derogatory term that is similar to the American "idiot" or "loser". It is derived from the pre-zamboni days, where the LOSING team would have to hose down the ice after the game.
